About the Operations At Geriatrics Sahlgrenska, we have a geriatric ward where half of the patients come directly from the emergency department and half are admitted electively for general geriatric care and rehabilitation. We have an extensive and growing consultancy service for other operations, particularly surgical departments. We staff a line in the primary care team with physicians who make home visits to some patients. The physician group currently consists of 15 specialist physicians and 6 ST physicians. Geriatrics - a specialization for the future! In geriatrics, you work with elderly, often frail and multi-morbid patients. Much of the work is conducted in multidisciplinary teams, where the geriatrician has a coordinating function. As a geriatrician, you become a specialist in diseases arising from the special conditions of aging, and the patient's individual medical picture therefore becomes crucial for medical decisions. Geriatrics Sahlgrenska is in an exciting development phase, with new assignments among other things. Therefore, we are seeking a new ST colleague with a genuine interest in the geriatric patient group, who wants to join us in developing the geriatrics of the future. Work Tasks As an ST physician at Geriatrics Sahlgrenska, you will work on our ward and also participate in our other operations. You will be on-call rounds during holidays, during which you will, together with the geriatric on-call physician, round on inpatients in the geriatric ward. Working hours are 8:00 - 15:00. You will participate in quality and development work, as well as mentoring medical students. Side assignments are planned in consultation with the study director, supervisor, and department head, in accordance with the National Board of Health and Welfare's objectives and special recommendations from the Swedish Geriatric Society. About You We are seeking you with a Swedish medical license. We expect that you are engaged, motivated, and have a strong interest in the geriatric patient group. You should have good collaboration skills, good interpersonal skills with patients, relatives, colleagues, and other staff. It is required that you are unpretentious and enjoy working in multidisciplinary teams. You must have good communication skills and be fluent in Swedish both spoken and written. Interest in development and quality work is a merit. Previous experience at a geriatric clinic is a merit. Great weight is placed on personal suitability.
