Description Beginning in fall 2021, the organization of our elementary schools in Gothenburg City changed. We expanded the number of leadership positions so we could create sustainable school leadership teams with a principal and assistant principal. The new organization aims to provide us with good conditions to create an equitable school with high quality instruction. In the new organization, we form school districts with one or more school units and shared leadership teams. The leadership teams will give schools the opportunity for increased collaboration and the chance to become stronger together. School District 20 in Southwest consists of the following five school units: Deaf and Hearing F-9, Kannebäck Adapted Elementary School 1-9, Kannebäck Resource School 1-9, Kannebäck, Ängåsskolan F-6, and Vättnedalsskolan F-6. The leadership team for School District Southwest 20 consists of one principal and six assistant principals as well as approximately 300 staff members. Right now we are seeking a special education teacher with a focus on intellectual disability (ID) for Kannebäck Adapted Elementary School to teach grades 1-6. We have a unique bilingual environment with Swedish Sign Language and Swedish. Here, students meet with varying degrees of hearing loss and deafness, often in combination with language disorder and/or other neurodevelopmental disabilities. We view sign language not only as a communication tool, but as a key to identity, knowledge, and social community. We value visual accessibility and linguistic inclusion in everything we do. Job Duties Your primary task will be to create a safe and predictable learning environment for students who have comprehensive support needs during the school day and need that little extra – both pedagogically and relationally. You will have instruction in a smaller student group as well as one-on-one to strengthen knowledge development, and the assignment requires a high degree of flexibility and responsiveness. We can offer small student groups and good support from a student welfare team consisting of speech-language pathologists, special education specialists, counselors, psychologists, and school nurses. We offer opportunities for professional development in TAKK (Sign as Alternative and Augmentative Communication), sign language, language disorders, and neurodevelopmental disabilities (NDD). Qualifications You who are applying: have teacher certification and a special education teacher degree, preferably with eligibility to teach grades 1-6 have a special education teacher degree, preferably with a focus on intellectual disability have competence and experience working with clarifying pedagogy and a low-affect approach have experience working with students with neurodevelopmental disabilities are a responsible person who can meet students with warmth and respect have basic knowledge of Swedish Sign Language or interest in learning it We want you to be independent, flexible, clear, and creative. We want you to have knowledge of and commitment to students in need of special support. Furthermore, we see that you also have good knowledge of the adapted elementary school curriculum. We want you to have a good approach and knowledge of strategies regarding students in need of special support.
