Our geriatric care unit has 25 beds distributed across three multiprofessional teams working closely with patients based on a person-centered and geriatric approach. Our staff has a special commitment to caring for frail elderly patients, and the department has achieved Silviahemmet certification, which reflects our focus on person-centered care, treatment, and high quality in caring for elderly patients. We are part of the Acute Care operational area and are in an expansive development phase. In recent years, the department has grown with more geriatric beds, and several development projects are underway. Among other initiatives, we are investing in strengthening palliative care and have a project to further develop a geriatric observation unit in close collaboration with the emergency department, municipal services, social services, and other external partners. The goal is to create safe and sustainable care processes and ensure that patients receive the right support for a safe discharge home when inpatient care is not needed. The unit has broad medical expertise with specialists in geriatrics and internal medicine. We also have resident physicians in geriatrics and an active training and supervisory mission. There are good opportunities to engage in research, education, and operational development, which we already conduct. At our unit, patients are primarily admitted from the emergency department and cared for according to Comprehensive Geriatric Assessment (CGA) principles; a structured holistic assessment and care by a multiprofessional team. Patients are cared for in close collaboration with other hospital care, primary care, and municipalities. 1 position(s). WORK TASKS As a specialist physician with us, you work with standard medical tasks in a geriatric department. You are also responsible for consultations regarding acute confusion and other geriatric-related issues in hospitalized patients in other departments of the hospital. We are facing an exciting development journey and would like more colleagues who together can further develop our ideas about a geriatric observation unit. The work is conducted in multiprofessional teams where the holistic perspective of the frail patient is always in focus. The role also includes supervising junior physicians, resident physicians, and students. You will also contribute to the department's continuous development work with the goal of improving work methods, processes, and quality of care. As a specialist physician with us, you participate in the department's on-call shift during daytime on weekends. However, the position does not include participation in the hospital's primary on-call or backup on-call line. QUALIFICATIONS We are looking for you who are a licensed physician with authorization to practice in Swedish healthcare. Furthermore, you have specialist competence in geriatrics, internal medicine, or general medicine with a particular interest in geriatrics. You also need to have Swedish language skills corresponding to at least level C1 according to the Council of Europe scale.
