And make a difference every day. For real. Duties We are looking for a communicable disease physician and operations manager. The communicable disease physician is an independent authority responsible for planning, organizing, and leading communicable disease work. As a communicable disease physician with us, you participate both in long-term development work and in ongoing matters. We apply the regulations that follow from the Communicable Diseases Act and are responsible for surveillance, prevention, contact tracing, investigation work, and outbreak control of communicable diseases. The position also includes efforts for prudent use of antibiotics and combating antibiotic resistance. Important duties also include education and information directed at healthcare, other communicable disease actors, and the general public, as well as contact with media. You will have frequent contacts with the microbiology laboratory, the infectious disease clinic, other hospital care and primary care, as well as with municipal care and services, regional and national authorities. As a communicable disease physician, you are operations manager for the unit and have management responsibility for the deputy communicable disease physician and the unit manager. The unit manager in turn is responsible for the remaining staff within the unit. About the Workplace The Unit of Infection Control and Healthcare Hygiene works across the county and has the task of preventing and reducing the spread of communicable diseases and healthcare-associated infections in Västmanland. We currently consist of nine employees: a communicable disease physician and operations manager, a senior physician for healthcare hygiene and deputy communicable disease physician, two communicable disease nurses, four hygiene nurses, and a communicable disease assistant. A unit manager position with personnel and financial responsibility for the nursing group and administrative staff is currently being filled. Together we work to prevent and reduce the spread of communicable diseases and healthcare-associated infections in Västmanland. This is accomplished through epidemiological surveillance, preventive work, contact tracing, information, and education. Efforts are directed to, among others, region-operated care, municipal care and services, preschools, schools, as well as the general public and media. We have a broad network both regionally and nationally. Our work area includes, in addition to communicable disease control, healthcare hygiene, which works to support hospitals, primary care, and municipal care in ensuring a good hygienic standard with the goal of preventing the occurrence and spread of healthcare-associated infections. Beyond this, we also carry out work against antibiotic resistance. Qualifications We are looking for you who are a licensed physician with specialist competence in infectious diseases, clinical bacteriology, clinical virology, or other specialist competence deemed relevant for the position. You have several years of experience within the medical specialty field. We would like to see that you have experience working in communicable disease control and/or healthcare hygiene, and that you have experience with research and teaching. It is meritorious if you have management or leadership experience. You have very good knowledge of the Swedish language, good knowledge of English, and a good ability to express yourself verbally and in writing.
