This is a fixed-term position for 5 months. Description of the Unit The County Administrative Board's Protected Nature unit works to preserve Västernorrland's most valuable natural areas. This includes both establishing new nature reserves and managing several of the county's more than 240 existing nature reserves. The unit also works with outdoor recreation issues, wetland restoration, LONA support, and water protection efforts. You will be part of the working group that handles reserve establishment. Your Tasks You will work on revising existing decisions and management plans for nature reserves in the county. Decisions and management plans are revised from time to time as new knowledge emerges and new needs arise. The work involves describing and understanding different habitats and nature, as well as assessing what measures are needed to maintain and develop the natural values that exist in the areas. The decisions are based on the Environmental Code and align with what is then expressed in the plans for managing the areas. The process also includes producing digital maps for decisions and management measures. You work independently but in close collaboration with a group of experienced handlers within administration and reserve establishment. You work according to described processes, but each area is unique and problem-solving is part of the work. The position includes field trips to relevant areas. You need to be goal and results-oriented, persistent, and have strong problem-solving and analytical abilities combined with good teamwork skills. For this position, the following are required: Higher education in natural sciences, for example biology, forestry, natural geography or equivalent. Class A driver's license Good proficiency in using Office package programs Excel, Access and Word For this position, it is advantageous if you have: Experience working with nature management or reserve establishment at a public authority Basic knowledge of using GIS. You have a good ability to express yourself in Swedish, both orally and in writing. War Placement and Possible Security Vetting Upon a permanent position with us, you will be placed for war duties with us at the authority and through this become an important part of total defense. A war placement means that it is predetermined that you continue to work with us at the County Administrative Board in the event of heightened readiness, but your tasks and working hours may be adjusted.
