Department of Neurosurgery We are Akademiska Hospital – one of Sweden's leading university hospitals. As a regional hospital and provider of highly specialized care, we serve healthcare to two million people in Central Sweden. Something is constantly happening here – a new life is born, a grandmother is operated on, a colleague is hailed as a hero. With us, you will experience both challenging trials and fantastic events, in a strong sense of community with colleagues. Welcome with your application! Our Operations At NIMA, the neurosurgery intermediate care unit, we care for neurosurgical and neurological patients who need intermediate or postoperative care. Some examples of reasons patients are cared for at NIMA include various brain tumors, brain hemorrhages, skull trauma, spinal trauma, epilepsy surgery, and care following thrombectomy. Our acute intake consists mostly of intermediate care patients who are too ill for a regular ward but do not require full-scale intensive care. Our postoperative patients are typically part of a planned operation and come to us for a shorter postoperative period. Together with skilled nursing assistants and physicians, we form a winning and developing team. We have good cooperation with the neuro intensive care unit located on the same floor and the ward units to make care as efficient and safe as possible for our patients. Our specialized expertise is advanced monitoring of the body's vital parameters to create the best possible environment for the brain, in order to reduce the risk of complications. We offer you an introduction tailored to your background and experience as a nurse. If you are a newly graduated nurse, we offer you seven weeks of training. Our training nurse is responsible for orientation days that you participate in during the training period or shortly after you begin having patients of your own. She is available for regular training and development during your workday. We also have a senior nurse who will be available for support during your first year on the unit. Your Qualifications You are a licensed nurse who wants challenging and stimulating work. Your Competencies Do you enjoy having many colleagues around you and working in a team? Are you a responsible, motivated, and curious employee who contributes to a good work environment – then you might be right for us! The variety in the work means that you should be flexible and able to adapt to acute situations. Great emphasis is placed on personal qualities. What We Offer We welcome you to a permanent position with a start date by agreement. Rotating shift work is applied in the unit, which means day, evening, and night shifts. At NIMA, we work according to the points model, which is a scheduling model that provides more opportunities for recovery and flexibility. Rotating shifts in combination with the points model provide a favorable reduction in weekly working hours. Commuting and other personal needs can be discussed during scheduling.
