Job Responsibilities As a registered nurse with us, you will have varied and developmental work. You will develop your ability to assess the patient's vital parameters, understand relationships, and identify complications after surgery. The work includes preparing patients for surgery, assisting with nerve blocks, monitoring vital parameters, continuously evaluating, and providing supportive treatment to prevent organ failure. You are responsible for the patient's recovery and for preventing and alleviating pain, nausea, and anxiety through early detection of complications related to anesthesia or surgery. About the Workplace The Surgical Clinic is responsible for surgical care in Region Västmanland and is located in Västerås and Köping. In Köping, day surgery is conducted in orthopedics, surgery, urology, ENT, and gynecology. The operations include a day surgery unit, four operating rooms, a sterile processing department, and a planning unit. We are approximately 40 employees working with the patient at the center. The pre- and post-operative department includes the Preop reception and Postop. The team consists of specialist nurses, registered nurses, and nurse assistants. We work closely with other professions and strive for high patient safety with a holistic approach. At Preop, patients are prepared for surgery. At Postop, we care for children and adults after anesthesia and surgery. Preop has 7 beds and Postop 6 beds. Rotation between the units is included. We operate 4 operating rooms Monday – Thursday and 3 rooms on Fridays with closure every third Friday and every sixth Friday we have an internal skills development day. We are closed for 4 weeks in summer and have reduced operations during other holidays and major public holidays. Qualifications We are looking for you who are a licensed registered nurse with at least 3 years of experience in the profession and experience from acute care in a hospital. Education as a specialist nurse in, for example, acute care, ICU, anesthesia, medicine, or surgery is a merit. Since you need to communicate verbally and in writing with patients, relatives, and colleagues in this role, good knowledge of the Swedish language is required. If you have worked in the Cosmic/Orbit journal system, we consider this a merit. We also see that you are flexible, structured, have a good ability to prioritize in daily work as well as quickly prioritize and adapt to changed circumstances.
