The Palliative Care Unit in Lund is organizationally part of the Department of Nearby Care and Health, operating area mobile teams and specialized palliative care central Scania. We offer specialized palliative care aimed at alleviating symptoms and preventing suffering associated with incurable or chronic illness. Patients are often, but far from always, in their final stage of life. More than half of the patients are admitted acutely through advanced home care (ASIH) and all those admitted need specialized palliative inpatient care. Severe pain, anxiety, and infections are examples of common reasons for admission. After a period of treatment, some patients can return home. Through presence, dignity, and care, we create security, alleviate symptoms, and provide support in every encounter. We welcome two experienced nurses to our Palliative Care Unit in Lund. As a nurse, you will be part of a multidisciplinary team consisting of doctors, nurses, nursing assistants, social workers, cook, occupational therapist, and physiotherapist. Sometimes a therapy dog is also part of the team. We work person-centered with a focus on making a difference for our patients and their loved ones every day. In your daily work as a nurse, you will face many independent decisions, but there are always colleagues in the team to turn to for support and help. The work can range from medical tasks to nursing care and support for loved ones. We provide care 24/7 with shifts during day, evening, and night. In this position, there is the opportunity to work fixed day/evening shifts. When you start with us, you will receive customized introduction tailored to your specific needs. After that, you are offered a mentorship program to support your development and integration into our organization. QUALIFICATIONS We are looking for an experienced registered nurse with credentials to work within Swedish healthcare. Furthermore, Swedish language skills corresponding to at least level C1 according to the Council of Europe level scale is a requirement. If you are trained in mentoring or pain management and have experience working in palliative care, this is also an advantage. You are confident in your professional role and work person-centered, which means you have the ability to see both the patient's and the loved ones' unique needs. Since part of the work involves support and conversation, it is important that you are communicative and have a talent for meeting people in different situations. Furthermore, you are a team player who can prioritize between different tasks when the work pace is sometimes high. You also have a strong interest in nursing care development and learning.
