At Ward 6, we strive to provide the best care in colorectal surgery. Since our surgeons conduct extensive research, you'll be part of taking new steps forward in evidence-based care. Surgery is a broad field of expertise and thus an excellent place to start your nursing career, but of course also a place for experienced nurses where we do our best to utilize all employees' experience. Our work is varied, exciting, and educational with good camaraderie and job satisfaction. Duties As a nurse with us, you'll become skilled in many care procedures as they are common occurrences. You'll work extensively with postoperative pain, fluid balance, and nutritional issues. We also have close collaboration with a dietitian, physiotherapist, occupational therapist, counselor, stoma therapists, and stoma representatives to ensure the best possible care. To promote safe discharges for our patients, we have strong support from our discharge coordinators. A wonderful mix of both new and experienced nurses and nursing assistants who look after each other and our shared work environment. We work in teams and everyone's roles are important to us. We celebrate successes and develop the ward to meet the future. Our hands-on leadership is built on seeing each person at their level and helping them grow according to their own circumstances. We have two advanced specialist nurses and a mentor on the ward, which creates security for you as a newcomer. About the Workplace Our ward has 23 care beds (18 on weekends) and specializes in colorectal surgery. Common diagnoses for us include: acute abdominal pain, intestinal bleeding, ileus, and cancer in the intestinal tract. We admit both acute and planned surgical patients. Patients admitted acutely need to be investigated, treated, or operated on immediately. Planned patients are already investigated and admitted for surgery. We work according to standardized care plans (ERAS) to reduce complications and promote rapid recovery. Qualifications We're looking for you who are a licensed nurse or in the final stages of your education, preferably with professional experience. If you have previous experience working in similar operations, that's a merit. In this role you need to be able to communicate verbally and in writing with patients, relatives, and colleagues, so good knowledge of the Swedish language is required. Other language skills are a merit. As a person you are calm, stable, and have good self-awareness. Since work in various ways can change quickly, you need to be flexible and have the ability to maintain your composure and focus in new situations. You have a good ability to structure your own work and take responsibility for your tasks. We work in teams and see collaboration and clarity as very important ingredients for success. Since we work closely with both patients and relatives, empathy is an important ingredient in your daily work. We place great emphasis on personal suitability. Terms of Employment We can offer permanent employment or temporary assignment, full-time. Day, evening, night, and weekend shifts. Start date by agreement.
