The Helpline is a support line for mental health and suicide prevention. We serve people who want support during a crisis or for their own wellbeing, as well as relatives of people with mental health issues. At the Helpline, we have a friendly and competent multidisciplinary team. Addiction Center Stockholm has the assignment to operate the Helpline. We work closely with other support lines within the clinic such as the Alcohol Helpline and Drug Helpline. Addiction Center Stockholm is part of Region Stockholm and is Sweden's largest addiction clinic offering support and assistance to people with problems related to alcohol, drugs, medications, or gambling. We are also a clinic that conducts university healthcare, research, and education. The Work We are now seeking a nurse advisor at the Helpline. Since the service is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, work is scheduled on day shifts, evenings, and weekends. Work as an advisor involves providing individual support to anonymous people via telephone and the internet. The work takes place at our facilities where you have access to colleagues. Since parts of our mission are still relatively new and are being adapted to those who contact us, there are opportunities for development-related work tasks. Qualifications We are looking for someone who is: A licensed nurse with an interest in working via telephone and the internet. It is highly desirable if you have experience in psychiatry or other work with mental health issues, as well as strong skills in motivational interviewing or equivalent patient-centered conversation methods. It is also desirable to have previous experience with support line operations and to be comfortable working digitally (e.g., with social media, in chat, or as a moderator on a forum). Personal Qualities You have the ability to handle difficult conversations with people who are experiencing serious mental health difficulties and are in crisis. You are trustworthy, unpretentious, and have a good ability to build relationships with those you speak with at an appropriate level. You can work independently in telephone counseling since most calls occur one-on-one. You have good verbal communication skills. The ability to learn and understand technical systems is desirable.
