Within the business area (VO) Pediatric Medicine at Skånes University Hospital (Sus), we offer care for children and young people at both Lund and Malmö locations, with outpatient clinics and care units as well as emergency departments at both sites. We work according to the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child and the Nordic Association for Sick Children's Needs (NOBAB) standards. At the Emergency Department for Children and Youth in Lund, we meet children who come in acutely with illnesses or following accidents. We receive children in specialized medicine up to 18 years of age and children with surgical conditions up to 15 years of age. On call, we also receive children with complaints from the ear, nose and throat region. We have a unit manager nurse who works daytime and is available as an experienced support for new employees as well as for those already working with us. We also have two specialist pediatric nurses and one pediatric care assistant who work 50 percent in care and 50 percent with mentorship and introduction as well as development of our unit. DUTIES We welcome a driven and committed nurse/pediatric nurse who wants to be part of developing emergency care for children together with us. In your role as a nurse/pediatric nurse at the Emergency Department for Children and Youth, your duties consist of care and treatment of the acutely ill child. With us you will experience varied and stimulating work in a good working environment that requires flexibility and cooperation. We have an eight-week introduction period, but your introduction is individual and is of course adapted to your previous experience. Progression occurs gradually with increased responsibility in triage, ambulance reception, the acute room, treatments and care around the sick child and their family. The introduction also includes training in point-of-care analysis, basic pediatrics, acute exercises, medical technology and our triage tool RETTS. As a new nurse or pediatric nurse, you always have the support of an experienced colleague. You will also be assigned a mentor who has extensive experience working in pediatric and emergency care, during your introduction period and thereafter, depending on your wishes and needs. We offer a scheduling model with quota agreements, which means you work 38.25 hours per week and are employed in combined day and night shifts, where you work two weekends in five weeks. QUALIFICATIONS We are looking for you who are a licensed nurse and/or nurse with specialist training in pediatric and youth care or emergency care with the authority to practice within Swedish healthcare. Swedish language skills at least at level C1 according to the Council of Europe scale is a requirement. We would appreciate it if you have experience working in pediatric care, but the most important thing is that you have a strong interest in pediatric care. Your positive attitude contributes to a good working climate and as a person you are confident in your professional role and adapt easily to the changing circumstances that work in an emergency department entails. You feel secure in your prioritization and always keep the patient in focus even when the pace is sometimes high. Since we work closely as a team, good teamwork skills, high service awareness and a genuine interest in children and their families are important.
