The Swedish Prison and Probation Service (SiS) is a government agency responsible for individualized involuntary care for youth with complex psychosocial issues and for adults with substance abuse disorders. SiS also manages closed youth care. We operate youth institutions and homes for adults with substance abuse issues throughout the country. At SiS, your work life becomes an exciting challenge. Regardless of where you work in our organization or what position you hold, you help create life-changing transformation. SiS Youth Institution Stigby on Visingsö accommodates 35 youth and receives non-compulsory school-age boys with psychosocial issues, criminal backgrounds, and substance abuse concerns. We are divided into an MBB department (intake and needs assessment), four treatment departments, and a discharge preparation department in Jönköping. Job Description SiS Youth Institution Stigby's school operations provide education for 35 youth. Students pursue studies within the introductory program. They are offered primary school subjects, various secondary school subjects, and vocational practical training with elements from working life in the form of APL (work-based learning). There are four vocational programs: industrial, construction, vehicle and transport, and restaurant and food service. Additionally, we have a soccer focus, which means close collaboration with the island's soccer club, as soccer is an important component in both school and treatment activities. Teaching occurs in small groups. School operations are a crucial success factor in institutional care and the greatest protective factor for our youth. Your assignment involves teaching within vehicle and transport. To succeed in your teaching role, you must be able to build relationships with your students—this is the foundation of our work, which leads to students developing their learning and abilities. Your personal suitability is key to life-changing transformation. Therefore, you need to be an empathetic person driven by a strong inner passion and desire to create extraordinary results. Being a colleague who shares knowledge and contributes to team spirit at SiS are other qualities that make you interesting. Equally important is having a deeply rooted positive view of humanity and the ability to handle conflicts constructively. We work in teams, and we expect you to contribute your knowledge, insights, and participate in collegial learning as a natural part of your teaching role. You will be part of a team working together for a positive work environment where everyone's ideas are respected and welcomed. Work hours are daytime. Our vision is to be a place for change, and this permeates our approach, engagement, and mindset. Qualifications We are primarily seeking someone who is a vocational teacher with qualifications to teach vehicle and transport, or alternatively has at least five years of experience in the industry and a strong drive to teach and mentor students. We expect you to meet the following requirements: Solid experience in the industry Good view of humanity—where the equal worth of all people is self-evident and you have intercultural awareness Pedagogical insight—where you are flexible in your thinking, creative, and enjoy working thematically and across subjects Empathetic ability and relationship-building skills, as you understand that relationships are fundamental to student learning and development Cooperative skills while also being able to work independently, systematically, and take your own initiative Personal maturity, stability, integrity, and clarity Perseverance—you don't give up at the first setback but believe in students and their ability to succeed in their learning Category B driver's license Merit factors: Previous experience teaching our target group At SiS, we value good colleague relationships. This means that as an employee, you take responsibility for your work, contribute to development, and participate in good cooperation.
