The Swedish Prison and Probation Service, SiS, is an agency responsible for individually adapted involuntary care for young people with complex psychosocial problems and for adults with substance abuse. SiS also implements closed youth care. We do this at youth homes and homes for adults with substance abuse throughout the country. Working at SiS means your work life will be an exciting challenge. Regardless of where in our organization you work or what position you have, you help create vital change. SiS Youth Home Råby accepts both girls and boys. We have both closed and open places for closed youth care as well as treatment places for young people placed under the Care of Young People Act (LVU). Job Description Are you passionate about young people and want to work at a school with good atmosphere, high quality and job satisfaction? Do you want to work in small classes with teaching based on trust and on what students can achieve? We need to expand with more teachers at SiS Youth Home Råby. Now is your chance to influence students' future and education in a creative and enabling school environment. We need teachers in English, mathematics and physical education. To us come young people who find themselves in a problematic and tough life situation. Many have negative experiences of school and low trust in teachers and other adults. As a teacher with us you work with these students and you get a unique opportunity to awaken their desire to learn and make them proud of themselves. Teaching takes place in smaller groups which means you have time for each student. You always start from individual needs and build relationships that make young people feel secure at school. The school activities within SiS follow the same regulations as the rest of the school system and the school is responsible for the education of all enrolled young people. Young people staying at the youth home should receive the education they need and are entitled to. Almost all teaching takes place within the framework of the introduction program; individual alternative, but there may also be compulsory school students as well as students within the framework of adapted school. All students have an individual study plan where they together with a mentor and study and career counselor set goals and study basic school and/or high school common subjects according to their needs. Teaching is conducted full-time in smaller teaching groups where you start from the students' needs and conditions. Investigation assignments are also included where you investigate and map students' level of knowledge, school history and the presence of specific learning difficulties. You have contact with the student's parents, home schools and social services. Your work tasks include planning, teaching, assessment and mentoring and of course your work is well anchored in curricula and grading criteria. At the institution there are several complementary competencies and as a pedagogue you are one of the cogs in a joint effort around the young people. Cooperation with, for example, nurses, treatment pedagogues and psychologists is therefore an important part of your work tasks. We are many who care and together we take a holistic approach to the young people. The position also includes mentoring. Qualifications You need to have a High School Teacher degree. And certification in English, mathematics or physical education. Other subjects are meriting. You also have a B driver's license. You have good collaboration skills, initiative, a flexible approach and a positive view of students. It is important to have a positive attitude and a belief in each individual's development potential. You have a good ability to manage several individual plans simultaneously. You like challenges, participate in the school's development and have high social competence. The work requires that you have a good ability to express yourself in speech and writing. Meriting is documented special education work, knowledge of various diagnoses, experience of working with young people in need of special support and institutional care. As a person you are confident, stable and calm, even in stressful situations. You always take responsibility for your work tasks by planning, organizing and prioritizing your work efficiently and to achieve set goals. Furthermore, you work well with other people and think about adapting the way you communicate your message to who the recipient is. You also understand the importance of adapting to changed circumstances and see the advantages of change. You have a good ability to take responsibility for the whole and are a team player. You need to be interested in teaching and building trustful pedagogical relationships in smaller teaching groups consisting of students with psychosocial problems and involvement in crime. It is important that you can identify and meet the student's needs with high realistic expectations and motivate and guide the student towards their goals. We would like to see that you are unpretentious, flexible, can set and maintain boundaries in a respectful way and have a belief that all students can find a way to education and work. At SiS we care about good collegial relationships. This means that you as an employee take responsibility for your work, contribute to development and participate in good cooperation.
