The Swedish Prison and Probation Service (Statens institutionsstyrelse, SiS) is a government agency responsible for individualized compulsory care for young people with complex psychosocial issues and adults with substance abuse disorders. SiS also carries out closed youth care. We do this at youth homes and facilities for adults with substance abuse issues throughout the country. SiS LVM-hem Hessleby, located in a beautiful forest setting just outside Mariannelund, admits men with alcohol, drug, or polysubstance abuse issues. We have special expertise in serving clients with mental health problems or disruptive behavior. We are tasked with providing care for clients with special care needs.
Job Description
Do you want to help create vital change for vulnerable people? Then the role of treatment assistant at SiS is a meaningful challenge. Your mission is to motivate our young people/clients toward new and less risky ways of living. As a treatment assistant, you are employed to provide care and treatment. You contribute to ensuring that ward routines function as intended. You play a major role in providing stability and security for our young people/clients, and you form the foundation of daily life activities such as schooling, cleaning, cooking, and more. You work to maintain order and security at the institution according to our procedures. Documentation is an important part of your work. You will work to build secure relationships and help our young people/clients gain the safety and security they need to break established patterns of behavior. Together with your team of dedicated colleagues such as treatment educators and treatment coordinators, you have the opportunity to achieve good results and contribute to change. The job is often demanding but also stimulating, rewarding, and varied.

Qualifications
Your personal suitability is key to vital change. Therefore, you need a strong ability to create engagement and participation. Equally important is that you have a firmly grounded positive view of humanity, strong empathetic ability, and the capacity to build good relationships. You have good communication skills and can remain calm even in pressured situations. You also have the ability to collaborate with others and enjoy sharing your knowledge with colleagues.
You must also have:
- At least a 2-year post-secondary education from a folk high school or vocational school (KY/YH) or equivalent education. The education should be focused on social work, social pedagogy, behavioral science, or another relevant subject area.*
- Category B driver's license
- Good Swedish in speech and writing
Below are examples of meritorious requirements that may be used in recruitment (select what fits your specific recruitment process):
- Experience from client-facing positions at the Swedish Correctional Service, such as correctional officer
- Security guard training
- Experience from client-facing positions at the Swedish Migration Agency, such as officer at the detention facility
- Education in health and care
- Experience working with our target group (e.g., substance abuse care, youth care, young women, etc.)
