The Unit for Major Support to Civil Society is now seeking an operations controller for an extended temporary assignment. About the Job The temporary assignment is located in the Unit for Major Support to Civil Society. As an operations controller, you play an important role in how Sida manages development aid funds. You work closely with case handlers, managers, and program administrators, with an active role in planning, monitoring, and ensuring quality of initiatives. To thrive in the controller role, you need integrity and the ability to independently lead quality assurance work based on regulations, guidelines, and instructions. Operations include support through both Swedish and international civil society organizations in developing countries. Through your work, you contribute to promoting democracy, human rights, and human security, and to strengthening organizations' capacity and conditions. You will also participate in and contribute to the unit's learning and methodology development. Responsibilities Provide advice and support to case handlers and managers regarding: - Partner organizations' capacity and ability to plan, implement, and monitor development initiatives, such as organizational structure, governance, financial administration, and systems - Agreement design - Financial planning and monitoring - Risk analysis and risk management - Analysis of financial reports and audit reports Ensure quality in case handling and contribute to regulatory compliance Monitor the total development aid funds managed by the unit Participate in Sida's anti-corruption efforts Other tasks assigned by the unit What We Offer We offer a workplace with excellent development opportunities and a work environment characterized by openness and diversity. Qualification Requirements Education Academic education equivalent to at least three years of full-time studies in economics, such as financing, accounting, or auditing. Languages Very strong ability to express yourself orally and in writing in Swedish and English. Work Experience and Knowledge Several years of current experience in financial and operations management, financial planning, and monitoring. Several years of current experience in internal control and compliance and quality assurance. Experience with risk assessment and anti-corruption work. Experience analyzing financial reports and audit reports We place great emphasis on personal qualities and are seeking someone with strong self-leadership abilities, initiative, and the drive to move things forward. This requires that you can organize and structure your work. Success in this role requires excellent communication skills, the ability to build relationships and collaborate to achieve results. You also need high integrity, stand up for regulations, and be able to handle resistance. We consider it important that you are analytical, can see how things connect, and have the ability to acquire knowledge and apply it in practice – especially when analyzing financial reports and results.
