Tillväxtverket is a national authority with regional presence in nine locations. About Tourism Statistics Tillväxtverket is responsible for Sweden's official statistics in the tourism sector. Our statistics are used by the government, authorities, destinations, researchers, and companies to monitor and develop the visitor industry in Sweden. We are at the forefront of new data sources and methods for statistics production and are internationally recognized for our work with Big Data and the development of modern statistical systems. With us, you'll have the opportunity to work with the entire statistics process, from data collection and methodology development to analysis, publishing, and dialogue with users. We are responsible for the following statistics products and development projects within tourism: Accommodation Statistics Swedes' Travel Incoming Visitors to Sweden (IBIS) Tourism Accounts Environmental Tourism Accounts We use both traditional survey methods and register data, API collections, Big Data, and advanced statistical modeling to produce high-quality statistics. We present the results in reports, in our statistics portal, as open data, and at seminars and conferences both nationally and internationally. The position is placed in the Analysis and Statistics unit, in the Tourism Statistics group. The unit is responsible for analyses, surveys, and statistics that contribute to increased knowledge and learning within Tillväxtverket's areas of activity. Tillväxtverket also has the government's mandate to promote sustainable and competitive development of Swedish tourism and the visitor industry. About the Position As a statistician in tourism statistics, you will participate in planning, implementing, and developing our statistics production. You will become an important part of a competent and engaged team where we together deliver high-quality statistics. We are now looking for a person who will initially contribute to Accommodation Statistics and our sample surveys Swedes' Travel and IBIS. However, you will also work with other parts of our statistics production. Your Responsibilities Work with data management, processing, and quality assurance within your projects. Make statistics accessible and communicate them through different channels (verbally, in writing, and in figures), nationally and internationally. Deliver data and analytical materials internally and externally. Procure data collection and services related to statistics production. Participate in development work to strengthen quality and user value in our statistics products. Engage in dialogue with respondents, users, and partners. Follow up on and evaluate the benefit of our statistics products. Travel is part of the position. Place of employment: Malmö, Stockholm, Örebro, or Östersund. We are Looking for You Who Have (Requirements): University or college education corresponding to at least three years of studies in an area that Tillväxtverket considers relevant to the position (including at least two semesters in one of the subjects mathematics, statistics, national economics, or cultural geography) At least two years of experience in statistics work Data management and programming skills in R, SAS, or other statistical and data programs Very good skills in Swedish Good skills in English The Following are Merits: Education in statistics at the master's level (or equivalent knowledge). Several years of experience in statistics work Experience producing official statistics at an authority with statistics responsibility Experience with own data collection Experience with imputation processes to handle non-response in surveys Experience with automated disclosure control processes for statistics Experience with weighting and inflation in sample surveys Experience producing or developing national accounts, environmental accounts, or tourism accounts Project management experience Experience with analysis in statistics, national economics, or cultural geography Personal Qualities We are looking for someone who is analytical, organized, goal-oriented, and results-focused.
