At Chalmers, you'll have the opportunity to lead projects that make a real difference for students, researchers, and staff. We're now seeking a senior project manager who can transform ideas and needs into sustainable digital solutions in a complex and knowledge-intensive environment. About the Department Chalmers has approximately 12,000 students and 3,300 employees. The IT Department is responsible for common systems and IT support across the entire organization and develops and manages solutions for education, research, and administration. The IT Department consists of approximately 100 employees distributed across six units on the Johanneberg campus. The Development and Operations unit consists of 14 people, half of whom are developers and the rest are portfolio managers and project managers. Job Description As a senior project manager, you will lead business-aligned IT projects and system development projects through their entire lifecycle, from pre-study and planning to implementation and handover to operations. You will work closely with business representatives, developers, portfolio managers, technical specialists, vendors, and other departments at Chalmers. You will ensure that business needs are translated into feasible solutions and that objectives and deliverables are clearly anchored. Assignments vary in scope and may include development of business-critical systems, implementation of AI-based services, and other digitalization initiatives. The role may also include program management with responsibility for multiple projects and business areas. You will be responsible for planning, budgets, resources, risks, quality, and deliverables, as well as reporting to steering committees. You will prepare decision-making materials, status reports, and recommendations, and ensure clear governance and documented decisions. You will lead cross-functional teams with participants from the business, IT, and external vendors. The role also includes change management, requirements specification, procurement, vendor management, and follow-up on external deliveries. Employment Terms Permanent full-time position. There is an opportunity to work remotely up to two days per week as long as business operations allow. Qualifications We're looking for you with: At least five years of documented experience independently leading complex IT and digitalization projects. Experience with both business-aligned IT projects and system development projects. Experience leading projects through their entire lifecycle, from pre-study to implementation and handover. Experience with steering committee work and preparing decision-making materials and reporting to various stakeholders. Experience working in complex organizations with many dependencies and stakeholders. An academic degree of at least three years in a relevant field, or equivalent professional experience. Experience leading projects using both traditional and agile methodologies. The ability to express yourself fluently in Swedish and English, both spoken and written. Personal Qualities You are an engaged and responsible person with a structured working approach. You are communicative and relationship-building, listen to different perspectives, and create understanding even in complex contexts. You create structure and momentum when conditions change and manage multiple parallel dependencies. You work methodically even under time pressure and have the ability to make well-founded decisions while knowing when issues need to be escalated. You are confident in your leadership and create direction and engagement without formal personnel responsibility. You are collaborative, solution-oriented, and clear in your priorities and expectations.
