Job Responsibilities During 2026, the Swedish Transport Administration (Trafikverket) plans to start some of the major construction contracts for Norrbotniabanan on the Umeå-Skellefteå stretch. We therefore need to strengthen our team with senior project engineers who, together with our project managers and other skilled colleagues, will drive the construction of Norrbotniabanan. As a senior project engineer, you have an important role in the project organization. You work closely with the project manager and other project team members and contribute to advancing the project by coordinating, monitoring, and developing various aspects of the project. Examples of work tasks: - Provide qualified support to the project manager and independently drive and coordinate parts of the project's work - Monitor the project's finances, forecasts, and invoices and identify and manage any deviations - Coordinate and monitor schedules and project plans - Drive and monitor risk management efforts - Be responsible for and develop the project's digital structure and documentation environment - Plan and conduct meetings and be responsible for minutes and follow-up of decisions and activities - Prepare and compile materials for project reporting and monitoring - Contribute to developing the project's working methods and processes - Maintain ongoing dialogue and collaboration with contractors, designers, and other stakeholders in the project This role gives you a broad insight into all parts of the project and great opportunities to gradually take on greater responsibility. If you want to develop further, there is the possibility of eventually taking the step toward a project manager role within Trafikverket. Qualifications Who are you? To succeed in this role, we see that you should have good communication skills and enjoy collaboration, as you will have many contact points and collaborations both internally and externally. You are well-organized and enjoy working according to clear processes, while also having the ability to prioritize large workloads and quickly analyze what is needed to move the project forward. You take responsibility for your work and plan and organize efficiently in order to meet set deadlines. You have a humble approach and actively contribute to common goals. We are looking for someone who has: - University or college education of at least 180 credits in construction and civil engineering, societal development, or urban planning. Alternatively, other education combined with experience that we consider equivalent - Several years of current and relevant experience from construction and civil engineering projects - Experience independently driving, coordinating, and monitoring parts of projects - Experience with, for example, financial monitoring, scheduling, risk management, and project reporting - Good knowledge of Swedish, both spoken and written - B-category driving license for cars It is meritorious if you have: - Experience from railway projects - Experience from construction operations in the production phase - Experience leading or coordinating others within projects Other Information The work location for this position is Skellefteå.
