Job Description At AFRY Advanced Automation in Västerås, we help some of Sweden's leading industrial companies develop, modernize, and optimize their production and process facilities. We are now seeking an experienced automation engineer who wants to deliver advanced automation solutions within industry, energy, water, and process industries. With us, you will work with market-leading systems such as Siemens PCS7, ABB 800xA, TIA Portal, and AVEVA System Platform in projects ranging from smaller modernizations to comprehensive new builds and turnkey deliveries. Your Role: From System Design to Operational Plant As an automation engineer, you will be an important part of our project teams and work through the entire project lifecycle. You will be involved from early feasibility studies and technical solutions through programming, testing, commissioning, and handover to the customer. The work combines specialized technical expertise with close collaboration both internally and externally. Depending on your experience, you will have the opportunity to take technical responsibility in projects, lead sub-areas, and eventually serve as a mentor for junior colleagues. You will work with, among other things: Programming and configuration of PLC, SCADA, and DCS systems Developing solutions in Siemens PCS7, ABB 800xA, and TIA Portal Feasibility studies, system design, and technical investigations Renovations, migrations, and modernization of existing facilities FAT, SAT, and commissioning Troubleshooting, optimization, and problem-solving in complex automation environments Technical consulting and customer dialogue Collaboration with electrical engineers, process engineers, and project managers Knowledge sharing and support for less experienced colleagues Why AFRY Advanced Automation? Requirements Education: Relevant education in automation or equivalent work experience Experience: At least 4 years of experience in industries related to automation such as: - Manufacturing industry - Process industry - Water & Wastewater - Energy & Heat Language Skills: Fluent Swedish and English, both spoken and written B driver's license Meritorious Experience from: - Automotive - Pharma Life Science Knowledge of various automation systems and software within DCS/PLC/SCADA systems, such as: - SIMATIC PCS 7 - ABB 800xA - Siemens TIA Portal, S7 - AVEVA System Platform Experience with older ABB products (AC450, MP200) and system upgrades Additional Information Application deadline is 2026-09-30.
