About the Swedish Prison and Probation Service The Swedish Prison and Probation Service is growing – we are building new facilities, renovating, and expanding, and we are now seeking more staff members. Our most important goal is to reduce recidivism – to break the vicious cycle. If we succeed, society becomes safer and more secure for everyone. Our IT department is undertaking a major initiative focused on a digital Prison and Probation Service. Together we work to create conditions and solutions that make a difference in our operations. The IT department is experiencing strong growth. We are seeking someone with a strong interest in IT, knowledge, and experience that can enrich our digitalization journey and who wants to make a difference in society within your profession. Job Description As a manager in the IT department, you have a key role in driving the development toward a more digital prison and probation service. Your responsibility extends to personnel, operations, and budget for a section that works with systems related to real estate and security. Your leadership role is crucial in creating a smooth, secure, and future-proof digital environment within the Prison and Probation Service. The section is responsible for delivering an accessible and cost-effective IT environment that supports the entire authority's operations – while you ensure resource provision within assigned tasks. You are a role model who engages and harnesses employees' initiatives. You are responsible for the section's work with continuous improvement and change initiatives and are involved in creating an attractive workplace with a good work environment. Together with your management colleagues, you work in the unit's management group to plan and monitor the development of operations. The section is under development and currently consists of 3 employees and 1 consultant and will grow with expanded assignments where you will have the opportunity to shape your own organization. Qualifications We are seeking someone who wants to drive the development of the future IT environment within the Prison and Probation Service. We place great importance on personal suitability. We are seeking someone who has: Academic education preferably in systems science, computer science, or another engineering degree, or alternatively other education combined with experience that the Prison and Probation Service deems relevant. Experience in operational leadership with personnel and consultant responsibility as well as budget responsibility within the IT field. Experience in driving change initiatives. Experience working with standard products. Experience in supplier management. Good knowledge of Swedish in both speech and writing. It is also meritorious to have: Experience with project management or equivalent. Documented management or leadership training. Experience leading remote employees. Experience with systems development work. Experience from operations-focused assignments with connections to delivery and application development within public sector operations or large complex organizations. Experience developing forms for internal and external collaboration. AI in systems development. Good knowledge of the overarching conditions (regulations, budget, employer policies, etc.) applicable to public sector operations.
