School Counselor at Internationella Engelska Skolan Järfälla Internationella Engelska Skolan Järfälla is a school with 570 students in grades 5-9. The school is centrally located in Jakobsberg, within walking distance of the commuter train station. Our motto is Stronger Together and aims to create a safe and calm school environment where we treat each other with respect to develop as far as possible both academically and socially. We are now looking for a full-time school counselor for grades 5-9. As a school counselor, you will become an important part of our student wellbeing work and participate in both of our student wellbeing meetings, one for grades 5-6 and one for grades 7-9. The main task is to contribute to health-promoting and preventive student wellbeing work. We see the role as an important part in early detection and observation of needs at the group level and thus work holistically to create good conditions for all students to feel well and safe. It is therefore important that you can support and guide staff on matters concerning students' psychosocial wellbeing and also collaborate with parents/guardians and external stakeholders such as social services and BUP. For the students, you are a trusted adult who can create good and trustful relationships with them. In the staff group, you can work together with others in preventive and health-promoting student wellbeing work and have a solution-focused approach to working. You can also work independently while always keeping the student's best interests in focus. The position also includes conducting individual support conversations with students as needed and you will also be responsible for documentation in accordance with Swedish legislation and the school's procedures. We are looking for someone with a degree in social work or other equivalent higher education and experience of supportive work with children and young people. Experience working in schools and collaboration with, for example, BUP or social services is meriting. The working language is English and you need to have good proficiency and feel comfortable communicating on a daily basis in both Swedish and English, both orally and in writing. The position is a full-time permanent employment with a 6-month probationary period. Interviews are held on an ongoing basis and the position may be filled before the final application deadline and great emphasis is placed on personal suitability. Prior to employment, a valid extract from the criminal record registry for work in schools is required.
