JOB RESPONSIBILITIES We at Kulturskolan in Gävle are looking for a saxophone and clarinet teacher who is passionate about guiding and inspiring children and young people in their musical development. You meet students at different levels, from beginners to more advanced musicians, and help them develop their skills, expression, and joy of playing. The position may include work within El Sistema. Your responsibilities include: • Teach saxophone and clarinet, both individually and in groups, with a focus on developing students' musical skills • Engage, inspire, and motivate children and young people in their musical development • Contribute to an inclusive, safe, and positive learning environment for students from different backgrounds • Plan, conduct, and follow up on instruction and music educational activities • Participate in activities during school breaks and, if needed, work evenings and weekends • Collaborate with colleagues and contribute to the development of Kulturskolan's pedagogical approach • Create a safe and inclusive learning environment characterized by diversity • Participate in concerts, performances, and other presentations as part of students' learning and development QUALIFICATIONS We are looking for a dedicated saxophone and clarinet teacher who wants to inspire children and young people in their music learning. You need to be confident in your playing and have the ability to motivate students at different levels. We appreciate if you use a playful and curious approach, perhaps through creative exercises, ensemble playing, rhythm work, improvisation, or other inspiring methods that spark the desire to learn and explore music. Through your teaching, you contribute to creating musical joy, development, and confidence in every student. • Requirement: Upper secondary education; a bachelor's degree in pedagogy or music is a merit • Good ability to communicate in Swedish • High professional skill on saxophone and/or clarinet and the ability to inspire and motivate students • Experience teaching students saxophone and/or clarinet, both individually and in groups • It is a merit if you have experience in ensemble leadership or work with brass band activities To succeed in this role, you are: • Empathetic and attentive, with the ability to see each student and create safe, trusting relationships • Inspire and motivate students by encouraging joy, development, and curiosity in learning • Flexible and adaptable, with the ability to meet each student's individual needs • Organized and skilled at planning and organizing to create engaging and well-functioning lessons You must be able to provide a background check from the police for work in school or preschool. This should not be attached to your application but will be requested for final candidates. The position includes activities during school breaks, and there may also be work in evenings and weekends.
