Your new job We are seeking a vocal instructor as one of our colleagues will be on parental leave during 2027. Together with two colleagues, you will teach primarily vocal music. We have been granted approval by the Swedish National Agency for Education to operate a nationally recruiting aesthetic music program where students have the opportunity to further develop their instrumental and ensemble performance. This means we have high ambitions and high expectations both for our students and for ourselves as teaching educators and an organization. You therefore need to be motivated by being part of and developing such an operation. In addition to teaching vocal music, ensemble leadership at the upper secondary level will be part of the position. Teaching focuses on collaborative performance, musical communication, style knowledge, and ensemble musicianship. You lead ensembles and work with progression based on students' abilities and the program's objectives. Activities are often conducted in project form, with concerts and other public performances as goals. Work with choir activities will also be relevant. This is an important part of the music programs where all students meet to create and express music together. In addition, you will be part of and responsible for tasks within both program and subject areas. The Aesthetic Program is an important and visible part of the school's activities, and you will belong to the principal area that encompasses all aesthetic education. We maintain high quality in our teaching and operate nationally recruiting elite programs in all aesthetic disciplines: performing arts in drama, performing arts in theater, art and design, and music. Your qualifications We are looking for someone who is certified and licensed to teach music at the upper secondary level with vocal music as your primary instrument. It is an advantage if you have another subject in your degree. You have experience teaching vocal music at the upper secondary level and have broad musical expertise and can work freely across genres. You have extensive experience leading and teaching ensembles where students play different instruments, and you have the ability to create structure, engagement, and musical cohesion. You have experience leading choir activities and are accustomed to accompanying on piano. You are a leader, clear in your communication, and have the ability to adapt your approach to different groups and levels. You collaborate with other educators and artistic leaders in the program and actively contribute to the school's ensemble and concert activities. In dialogue with colleagues and students, you develop and shape the artistic direction for vocal music and ensemble, and contribute to the program's overall artistic and pedagogical development. Jönköping Municipality uses Vklass as its learning platform; therefore, you are expected to have experience and knowledge of using modern ICT tools. Furthermore, we place great importance on social competence and personal suitability. Good to know This is a fixed-term position at 100% for the calendar year 2027, starting January 8 and ending December 22. There is an opportunity for leave of absence for 20% of the position.
