Do you want to develop the models that form the foundation for Sweden's future railway investments? Work Tasks At Trafikverket, you will have the opportunity to work at the intersection of national economics, transport analysis, and model development. Here, advanced quantitative analyses are translated into decision-making foundations for investments that will impact the transport system for decades to come. We are looking for someone who wants to develop socioeconomic models for railways, work with complex analytical questions, and contribute to ensuring that resources invested in Swedish infrastructure generate the greatest possible social benefit. We are responsible for Trafikverket's socioeconomic models and analytical framework, which are used to analyze and assess investments and measures in the transport system. We develop and manage methods and tools in close collaboration with research institutions. We create conditions for robust socioeconomic analyses that are used to make decisions within the transport sector. As an economist specializing in model development and railway analysis, you will work with quantitative analyses of the railway system and further develop the models and methods used to assess the effects of investments and measures. In this role, you will, among other things: develop, manage, and quality assure Trafikverket's tools for socioeconomic analysis of railway investments, analyze complex issues related to capacity, accessibility, travel times, reliability, and transport demand, work with research and development projects together with universities, research institutes, and consultants, follow and implement international methodological developments within transport economics and socioeconomic analysis, provide qualified expert support in major and methodologically challenging railway studies, communicate results, models, and methodology to both specialists and decision-makers. You will become part of a national unit with high analytical expertise where economists and analysts together develop future decision-making foundations for Swedish transport infrastructure. Qualifications Who Are You? To succeed in this role, you have very strong problem-solving and quantitative analytical abilities, work in a structured and meticulous manner, and strive to achieve results. You have the ability to understand and explain complex relationships in a clear and pedagogical way, both orally and in writing. Furthermore, you are confident and comfortable in an environment where you can communicate and use your strong collaboration skills with both internal and external contacts. We are Looking for Someone Who Has a university or college degree of at least 240hp (160p) in national economics or other relevant education (e.g., civil engineering degree in a relevant field) and experience that we consider equivalent, several years of professional experience working with socioeconomic models or quantitative socioeconomic analyses, or alternatively several years of relevant experience in research or research education within national economics or transport economics, or other relevant experience that we consider equivalent, fluency in Swedish, both oral and written, and good knowledge of English. It is Advantageous if You Have knowledge of or experience with analyses or modeling within the railway sector, education in transport economics or applied welfare theory, a Master's degree, licentiate degree, or PhD in national economics or another relevant subject, programming skills, for example in R or Python, experience with data analysis, experience with Trafikverket's socioeconomic and forecasting tools, experience leading assignments and projects.
