About the Swedish Prison and Probation Service The Swedish Prison and Probation Service is expanding – we are building new facilities, renovating, and expanding existing ones, and are now seeking more team members. The Swedish Prison and Probation Service in Kalmar is expanding and currently has several ongoing projects and new establishments ahead. This includes establishing a Class 3 prison, a new remand facility scheduled to open in 2027, and a new correctional facility expected to be completed in 2030. The expansion creates great opportunities, and multiple new employees within various professions will need to be recruited in the coming years. Job Responsibilities As a Security Officer, you will work largely with monitoring security-related activities. You will be part of the local security organization and work both administratively and operatively on security matters. You will have an advisory function on security issues for the management group and work teams, and participate in security forums both internally and externally. In this role, you will investigate and analyze security-related issues. Your work days will vary depending on operational needs. As a Security Officer, you will plan, implement, and follow up on security work to support the facility's mission, as well as lead meetings and competency development for the organization. You will participate in exercise planning, implementation, and evaluation based on identified needs. In this role, you will, among other things: Establish local work procedures and local instructions for the security handbook Serve as the local ISAP coordinator and conduct analyses of ISAP reporting (incident reporting) Conducte inspections and controls within the operational area regarding security work in collaboration with management and participate in quality assurance of security work Introduce new employees to security-related areas Qualifications Your personal qualities are crucial. As a Security Officer, it is important that you have strong ability to plan, organize, and prioritize work tasks in a structured and efficient manner. You also have the ability to switch between strategic and operational matters, see the long-term significance and broader consequences of things, and adjust your priorities when needed. You have good initiative, can work independently and in groups, express yourself clearly and in a structured manner, and have good analytical ability in terms of linguistic and communicative understanding. In stressful situations, you are calm, stable, and controlled, and focus on the right things. We are seeking someone who has: Complete upper secondary school competence in the form of final grades or a high school diploma, or alternatively other education combined with experience that the Swedish Prison and Probation Service deems equivalent Several years of experience with qualified security work from the Swedish Prison and Probation Service or another part of the justice system Experience with internal and external cooperation and good knowledge of the tasks of cooperating authorities Ability to express yourself well in speech and writing in Swedish Category B driver's license It is meritorious if you have: Completed basic training with the Swedish Prison and Probation Service Knowledge and experience within the areas of ISAP, SBA, Q-säk, information security, drug-related work, and the security handbook Experience working on security-related matters in government service or the public sector Completed the Swedish Prison and Probation Service's internal security training in areas such as incident management/exercise operations and duty officer training Experience with training activities within the Swedish Prison and Probation Service Other Information The Swedish Prison and Probation Service has chosen to eliminate the personal letter and replaced it with selection questions relevant to the position.
