The County Administrative Board is an important coordinating link at the interface between state, region, municipality, business, and individuals. The County Administrative Board works to ensure that national goals are implemented in the county, while taking regional conditions and prerequisites into account. This includes balancing important societal interests and resolving goal conflicts. The County Administrative Board has a broad and multifaceted mission covering both tasks and subject areas. The authority's main tasks include permit review, supervision, knowledge dissemination, and coordination within many areas of society. Approximately 230 people work with us, and our chief is the county governor.
If you are interested in societal issues and want to contribute to the development of Värmland County, you may be the right person for us.
Description
The positions as Wildlife Predator Surveyor are located in the Animal Welfare and Wildlife unit, where we work with wildlife management, animal welfare, and veterinary issues. Currently, approximately 25 people work in the unit. We are now seeking two seasonal employees for different parts of the county; one for the northern part of the county and one for the western part of the county.
Employment begins with training in surveying and quality assurance of large predators at Grimsö Research Station in early November. The work is physically demanding and involves extensive driving.
Please indicate in your application which of the positions you are interested in; the one with a work area in western Värmland or the one with a work area in northern Värmland, or if you are interested in both.
Job Duties
As a Wildlife Predator Surveyor, you will primarily work in the field tracking predators during the winter season in varying terrain. Handling the County Administrative Board's wildlife cameras is part of the field work. The work also involves some administration in the form of reporting predator observations and emptying wildlife cameras of material.
Qualifications
We are looking for someone who has:
experience with field work in forest and land.
Class B driver's license.
the ability to express yourself in speech and writing in Swedish.
good local knowledge of the northern or western part of the county (depending on which position you are applying for).
It is an advantage if you have:
Class BE driver's license.
a snowmobile permit or authorization to operate a snowmobile.
experience operating snowmobiles in untracked terrain.
experience with field work during the winter season.
experience with predator surveying and quality assurance of predator tracks.
training in surveying and quality assurance of large predators.
experience handling wildlife cameras.
experience working with computers and smartphones, primarily with spreadsheet programs such as Excel, mapping applications such as FieldMaps, or some database.
To be suitable for the job as a Wildlife Predator Surveyor, you must be comfortable working in the field during winter conditions. Since the work is performed in varying weather conditions, you need to be flexible regarding working hours.
A structured and thorough work method is necessary to handle the job duties, as is the ability to prioritize and take own initiative. You need to be able to work both independently and together with others. Since the work sometimes may involve handling conflicting interests, you need to have personal maturity, be confident in yourself, and be able to distinguish between the personal and the professional.
We place great emphasis on your personal suitability and your ability to contribute to a good work environment.
