Academic Resource is now seeking a Research Engineer to a Life Science company in Uppsala. This position is a consulting assignment through 2027-03-31. The role is full-time, on-site in Uppsala. Start date immediate. Department Description: The Viral Vector Applications group consists of more than 20 researchers working to develop solutions for processes involving viral vectors and nucleic acids. The primary focus is on developing purification tools, such as resins and convective flow technology, for mRNA, AAV, lentivirus, and oligonucleotides. The solutions are targeted at customers in the bioprocess and biopharmaceutical industry. The team works with the entire workflow, including cloning, IVT, filtration, purification, and analysis. The group works on product development, product maintenance, and market support to effectively meet customer needs. The team consists of both junior research engineers and senior researchers. They work in project groups with focus on, among other things, filtration, purification, and analytical methods and laboratory equipment. Role Description and Responsibilities: We are seeking a person with strong knowledge of chromatographic purification techniques for various biomolecules, preferably AAV, who wants to join the team. In this role, you will be responsible for performing purifications on ÄKTA Pure/Avant to support R&D projects in the field of viral vector-based therapies. Key Responsibilities: • Develop and validate purification solutions for AAV. • Have solid knowledge of ÄKTA Pure and Unicorn software. • Have knowledge of analytical methods such as HPLC and ELISA. • Collaborate across team and departmental boundaries. • Lead complex purification challenges and implement solutions. • Be responsible for careful documentation and ensure established standards and requirements are met. • The work also includes participating in method development, maintaining laboratory instruments, documenting work in electronic laboratory notebooks, and writing technical reports. You will also prepare and present results at project meetings. Qualifications: • Master's degree (M.Sc.) in biochemistry, molecular biology, or equivalent. • Some practical experience from relevant work in the biopharmaceutical industry. • Strong experience with chromatographic separation methods and use of ÄKTA instruments and Unicorn software. • Excellent knowledge of English and Swedish. • Knowledge of analytical methods such as HPLC, ELISA, and qPCR. • Knowledge of filtration. • Experience with data handling in Excel, DoE (Design of Experiments), and working with electronic laboratory notebooks (ELN). Soft Skills: Collaboration and communication with colleagues are central parts of the role. You should therefore be comfortable working in a flexible environment and have good presentation and communication skills.
