About the Job We are now seeking an engaged, clear, and confident director who wants to work long-term and strategically with clear goals together with their team to create the best possible education for the children in the preschool. You have the ability to build trusting relationships with both staff, children, and guardians. As a person, you are attentive, empathetic, and communicative, while standing firmly by your decisions and leading the operations with professionalism and responsibility. The preschool offers a warm and creative environment where children get to explore and express themselves in various ways, together with engaged educators who support and listen. As a director in our organization, you have access to solid support in the form of resources and specialists to collaborate with, most of whom are organized within the Quality and Development department, the Preschool and Primary School Administration's own department for support and guidance in systematic quality work, skills development, and the director's pedagogical leadership. As a director, you have access to comprehensive child health services (special education teacher, speech therapist, counselor, and psychologist), administrative, financial, and legal support. The HR department provides support on personnel matters. All new preschool directors are offered a mentor and an introduction plan. The preschool is led by the Department Head of Preschools. The director group currently includes 15 directors who work regionally in shared leadership. Job Responsibilities The director leads and develops their area of responsibility and plays a crucial role in the preschool's results and pedagogical development. The director has overall responsibility for leading and coordinating pedagogical work, ensuring a safe and supportive learning environment, and promoting children's learning, development, and well-being. Who Are We Looking For? Your primary task as director is to develop the operations together with the team from a holistic and child perspective. To succeed with this, we want you to be: A leader with clear focus on children's right to high-quality education A clear leader with the courage to make decisions Analytical with the ability to build sustainable structures and routines Have engaged and present leadership Communicative and have a good ability to build strong work teams A leader who works for and contributes to all of Uddevalla Municipality. Qualifications The position requires that you have: A preschool teacher license At least 3 years of experience working in preschool Driver's license (category B) For the position, it is an advantage if you have experience working as a director or assistant director at a smaller unit. Have started or completed training for prospective directors. Other Information Recruitment takes place through two interviews as well as personality and logic tests. A first digital interview takes place on October 9, 2026. Candidates selected for the second interview will undergo a personality and logic test. The second interview takes place in person on October 15, 2026. For positions where a teacher license/diploma/study certificate is required, this must be submitted before employment. Employment is subject to the required decisions being made. For positions involving direct and regular contact with children and youth, as well as for activities under the Act on Support and Service for Persons with Certain Functional Impairments, care, health care, psychiatric care, and addiction treatment, a valid extract from the police criminal record must be presented or submitted before employment.
