The bank has offices in Högsby and Åseda and contributes through the savings bank concept to the development of the region and local community life. Tasks and Responsibilities
Högsby Sparbank is strengthening its finance function and is seeking an economist with a solid foundation in accounting and financial statements. Here you will work closely with the finance manager, follow the accounting work from source materials to reporting, and gradually assume broader responsibilities. You will be an important part of a small organization with short decision-making paths, close collaboration, and clear local anchoring.
As an economist, you will be one of three people mainly working with the bank's financial matters. You will have a central role with insight into the entire financial flow, good opportunities for knowledge transfer, and responsibilities that can gradually expand over time. The role combines qualified accounting work with follow-up, reporting, and development of work methods. You will be part of a helpful and unpretentious culture with short decision-making paths, where you are both expected and encouraged to take responsibility.
Examples of Tasks
Ongoing accounting, bookkeeping, and account reconciliations.
Independent work on monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
Participation in annual reports, financial follow-up, and reporting.
Regulatory reporting
Preparation, review, and quality assurance of financial materials.
Contact with auditors and other internal and external contacts.
Documentation and development of routines, processes, and internal controls.
Gradually expanding responsibilities and backup within parts of the finance function.
Your Profile
You have a solid accounting foundation and are accustomed to independently managing, controlling, and following up financial materials. You see connections between results, balance, and financial flows and don't settle for identifying a discrepancy—you investigate the cause and drive the matter forward. You are meticulous and quality-conscious, but also action-oriented and skilled at prioritizing. You take responsibility for your work, share relevant information, and enjoy close collaboration where you work independently while also contributing to the whole.
The role suits you if you want to remain operational while also expanding your expertise and becoming a qualified key person within the finance function.
The role requires that you have
Post-secondary education in economics or accounting, or equivalent competence through work experience.
Several years of experience with qualified and independent accounting work.
Experience with monthly and annual financial statements.
Good understanding of income statements and balance sheets as well as financial flows.
Good system proficiency and strong Excel skills.
Good Swedish in speech and writing.
It is meriting if you have experience with annual reports, analysis, budgeting or forecasting, internal controls, audit, or regulatory reporting. Experience from banking, finance, insurance, or other regulated activities is valuable but not required.
