Rescue Services Gotland Would you like to lead a vital community service with major significance for safety, security, and emergency preparedness on Gotland? Region Gotland is now seeking a Chief of Rescue Services who wants to take strategic and operational overall responsibility for the rescue services. Rescue Services Gotland has approximately 200 employees within operational rescue services, fire prevention, workshop, and administration. Our mission is to prevent accidents, strengthen society's ability to manage risks, and conduct effective rescue operations when accidents occur. Operations are conducted from ten fire stations on the island. In Visby, there is a fully staffed station with management, administration, and fire prevention operations. Other stations are staffed by rescue service personnel on standby (RIB) and rescue volunteers who are called out as needed. Gotland's geographic location places special demands on emergency preparedness, cooperation, and long-term planning. As Chief of Rescue Services, you will have a key role in the region's work on accident prevention, emergency preparedness, and civil defense. Your Responsibilities As Chief of Rescue Services, you will have overall responsibility for directing, coordinating, and developing rescue service operations, both strategically and operatively. In your role, you will lead the work in accordance with current legislation, political decisions, and the region's governing documents. You are responsible for ensuring that the rescue service's goals in the action program for accident prevention are achieved, and that operations are continuously monitored and developed. An important part of your assignment is to secure the rescue service's capacity during heightened alert status, which also means that you conduct active environmental monitoring within rescue services, emergency preparedness, and civil defense. In the management and development of operations, you will be supported by two unit managers and an operations developer, who report directly to you and for whom you have direct personnel and work environment responsibility. To succeed in the role, you will build strong collaborations with other departments within Region Gotland and external partners, while representing and advocating for the rescue services in both regional and national contexts. Who Are You? We are looking for someone with experience from municipal rescue services and current management and/or leadership experience. This experience is complemented by an educational background in rescue management. This means that you have successfully completed either MSB's training for incident commanders (LK Insatsledare) or the rescue management course B (including the Swedish Rescue Board's previous advanced training). Alternatively, you have a degree in fire engineering in accordance with the Higher Education Ordinance combined with approved supplementary training in rescue services for fire engineers from the Swedish Agency for Civil Protection. The position requires that you are a Swedish citizen, hold a category B driver's license, and possess very good ability to communicate in Swedish, both orally and in writing. It is meritorious if you have training in fire protection supervision and MSB's management training within rescue operations. We would like to see that you have experience in fire prevention work according to LSO/LBE, staff work within crisis organizations, and the ability to lead complex rescue operations. Experience in cooperation with authorities within civil protection and leadership in a politically governed organization is also highly meritorious. As a leader, you are confident, stable, and unpretentious, with good self-awareness and the ability to adapt to the situation. You maintain calm and focus even under pressure, take responsibility, and drive work forward with clear focus on goals and results. You lead and motivate others by creating engagement and participation, while being attentive and open to others' perspectives. You communicate clearly, clarify expectations, and follow up.
