Project Manager Rail – Construction and Production We are seeking an experienced and independent project manager within rail for an extended consulting assignment with a public client responsible for rail infrastructure in Östergötland and Småland. The assignment is located in Linköping or Jönköping and runs for 24 months with the possibility of extension for several years. About the Assignment You will lead assigned projects in the construction design and production phases – for example, track replacements, switch replacements, contact line work, electrification, level crossing measures, and signaling work. You are responsible for delivering projects on time, within budget, and with the correct scope. Work is conducted in close collaboration with project engineers, specialists, consultants, and contractors. The assignment may involve responsibility for multiple parallel projects. Assignment Duration: 24 months with possibility of extension for several additional years. Scope: Full-time Start: October 12, 2026 or by November 1, 2026 at the latest. Location: On-site at the client in Linköping or Jönköping, with high office presence especially during the initial months. Work Tasks Establish and follow up on schedules, budgets, and forecasts Plan and lead project meetings Coordinate internal and external stakeholders, including contractors and technical specialists Follow up on technical documentation, deliverables, and deviations Report project status regarding time, cost, and scope Prepare and quality-assure decision support materials Participate in procurement of contracts and follow up on agreements Work according to the client's project model and document management Serve as construction site safety coordinator (BAS-P/BAS-U) as needed Requirements for the Role Minimum three years of documented experience as a project manager for railway projects within general railway operations, with independent responsibility for planning, management, follow-up, and delivery. Experience must cover design and/or construction phases and must not be older than 20 years. Parallel assignments are not counted twice. At least two completed assignments in a supervisory role (project manager, site manager, or equivalent) in the construction or production phases, within at least two of the following technical areas: switch/track replacement, electrification/contact line replacement, substation/signaling. Each assignment must have involved: a supervisory role for at least 12 consecutive months (or 18 months total), own work input of at least 850 hours, documented responsibility for planning, management, follow-up, and delivery, and a total budget of at least 100 million SEK. Pure specialist or support roles do not count. Completed BASÄSKYDD training with valid course certificate at the time of application. Completed BAS-P and BAS-U training, not older than five years. Experience working in project groups where coordination was central. Knowledge of laws, regulations, standards, and requirements within the railway sector. Very good Swedish in speech and writing. Class B driver's license. Ability to work on-site in Linköping or Jönköping with high presence and availability of 80–100% during the assignment period. Meritorious Experience in independently managing scheduling, financial follow-up (budget, actual, forecast), and risk management in railway projects, preferably with concrete examples of proactive work. Experience working according to an established project model, such as XLPM, PROPS, PPS, or PRINCE2. Independent and active role in construction or production phases across multiple projects, including management of progress, deviations, and production issues. Coordination between multiple technical areas (BEST) in the same project, preferably three or more. You are structured, communicative, and confident in managing time, cost, and risk without needing detailed direction. You have experience working in a public organization with high standards for accuracy, documentation, and impartiality. Workplace and Arrangement The client provides a computer and workspace at the office in Linköping or Jönköping. During the startup phase, high on-site presence is expected; remote work may become possible later by agreement and according to operational needs. Working hours are normally between 07.00 and 18.00, 40 hours per week, without shift supplements. Business travel is reimbursed according to the client's guidelines; travel between residence and work location is not reimbursed. Upon startup, training in information security and security clearance will be conducted. Work in track environments is performed according to applicable safety regulations and requires ID06.
