About the workplace The position is located at the Department of Cultural Geography and Economic Geography. You will work in the research project CATS (Beyond herding cats: integrating research on infrastructure transitions across project boundaries), funded by the Crafoord Foundation and running 2026–2027. CATS brings together several ongoing research projects on how infrastructure for water, sanitation, food, mobility, and waste is becoming more decentralized, with researchers at Lund University and international partners. The project aims to facilitate exchange and disseminate results to researchers, decision-makers, and the public. You will work closely with the project leader and be based at Geocentrum I in Lund, together with approximately 60 colleagues from the department. You will also be affiliated with CIRCLE, Centre for Innovation Research at Lund University (www.circle.lu.se), an interdisciplinary research environment with a large national and international network. Requirements Tasks and responsibilities As a project assistant, you will coordinate ongoing work in CATS and support the project leader and research team. The tasks are partly administrative and partly research-related. Administration and communication plan and conduct workshops, seminars, and other events, including travel bookings and practical arrangements update website and social media and produce newsletters assist with documentation for financial monitoring and reporting ongoing project administration, such as meeting notes, document management, and partner contacts Research support literature searches and research status summaries data collection, sorting, transcription, and documentation, such as interviews and documents analysis of qualitative and/or quantitative material contribute to reports, presentations, applications, and other texts The distribution between tasks varies over time and is adapted to the project's needs and your experience. The work requires regular presence at the department in Lund. Travel within Sweden and Europe may occur. Qualifications Requirements for employment: You hold a bachelor's degree in social science or another relevant field, or are nearing completion of such a degree. You have excellent English language skills, both spoken and written. You have experience searching for and compiling literature and working with qualitative or quantitative material, for example from thesis work. You have strong analytical abilities. You are organized and self-motivated and can plan and prioritize your work. You have good collaborative skills. Meritorious qualifications: You hold or are pursuing a master's degree in cultural geography, economic geography, innovation studies, political science, sociology, or a related field. You have experience with administrative work, such as organizing events, managing websites and social media, or preparing simple financial documentation. You are interested in research on sustainability transitions or infrastructure. You have strong Swedish language skills. Other information This is a fixed-term position for one year (special fixed-term contract) at 50–100% employment according to agreement. Start date as soon as possible or by agreement. The Department of Cultural Geography and Economic Geography at Lund University is a research-intensive academic unit within the Faculty of Social Sciences.
