The Department of Medical Biochemistry and Microbiology (IMBIM) at Uppsala University offers a broad, international environment for research and teaching in a creative and open atmosphere. The Department's research is conducted within three collaborative sections: Biochemistry and Cancer, Infection and Immunity, and Genetics and Genomics. IMBIM offers excellent opportunities for interdisciplinary collaboration with leading research environments at Uppsala University, including Uppsala Antibiotic Center, ENABLE-2, and the SciLifeLabs research infrastructure. IMBIM will lead a national strategic research area in antibiotic resistance, which will be established later this year. The position is located within the Infection and Immunity section.
Description of the Subject Area
The subject area encompasses antimicrobial resistance, bacterial pathogenesis, host-pathogen interactions, or bacterial physiology. We welcome expertise in molecular biology, biochemistry, genetics, infection biology, and large-scale molecular methods, including genomics, proteomics, metabolomics, or microbiome research.
Job Responsibilities
The successful candidate will have overall responsibility for research and research training in the subject area of medical bacteriology, as well as supervision and teaching at undergraduate, advanced, and doctoral levels. The position includes leading an active international research group in the field, as well as contributing to positive development of research and education in the subject through collaboration with the faculty's researchers and teachers. Administrative tasks and internal and external positions of trust may be included. The position also includes communicating about research and development work. The responsibilities include staying current with developments in your own field and societal developments that are relevant to work at the university.
