Production Technician – Steel Mill
At Outokumpu in Avesta, we are now seeking a Production Technician for the Steel Mill. This is a role for you who enjoys solving problems close to operations, challenging existing methods, and turning ideas into concrete improvements.
We are looking for someone who sees improvement potential, takes initiative, and drives change from idea to implementation. In this role, you will have significant responsibility and an important role in developing our production. You will work closely with production, maintenance, process development, and other specialists to create a safe, stable, and efficient operation.
Your Day-to-Day
As a Production Technician, you will work on developing and improving one of our production areas. You analyze data, identify opportunities, and translate your insights into concrete actions that strengthen safety, quality, productivity, and cost efficiency.
You drive improvement initiatives, lead development projects, and follow up to ensure that implemented changes deliver the desired results in the operation. You also contribute to developing methods, routines, and standards that create long-term results.
The role involves many touchpoints and close collaboration with both operational and technical functions. You therefore need to be comfortable working with others while being confident in driving your own initiatives forward.
When needed, you will substitute for the process group manager during absence or leave. This includes leading and coordinating daily work within the process group and exercising delegated responsibility for work environment matters for affected employees.
The position is based on day shifts.

We believe you have
Technical education or equivalent experience from industry
Experience in production, process industry, or technical improvement work
Ability to analyze data and translate insights into concrete activities
Interest in safety, quality, and production development
Good knowledge of Swedish and English
Ability to create engagement and involvement and get people to work toward common goals.
Experience in project management, maintenance, Lean, 5S, DMAIC, or other improvement methods is a merit.
