Responsibilities
Do you want to build the scientific foundation for Swedish nitrocellulose? We are seeking a postdoctoral researcher for the Svenskt Krut competence center at KTH, where academia, government agencies, and industry together strengthen Sweden's capabilities in nitrocellulose (NC).
In the P1NC project, we are mapping how cellulose raw material properties affect the nitrocellulose that can be produced. Your role is to characterize various cellulose raw materials – including fiber structure, crystallinity, purity, accessibility, and water retention – and link these parameters to the raw materials' suitability.
You will plan and conduct systematic small-scale nitration experiments under controlled and safe conditions, analyze the produced NC using the center's analytical equipment, and quantify the relationship between raw materials and NC properties. The work takes place at the Department of Fiber and Polymer Technology and in close collaboration with FOI, with at least one extended work stay there.
