I'm a 23-year-old guy who loves doing fun things and living an active life, but I need significant support in my everyday life. I currently live with my family outside Lund, but I'm planning to move to my own apartment in Lund in the fall. I spend a lot of time in my apartment, and my workplace varies depending on where I am - at my family's home, at a daily activity center in Lund, or in my apartment. I'm active and enjoy swimming, cycling, walking, taking the bus and train, and going on outings. I also enjoy baking, crafts, and photography - pictures are an important part of how I communicate.
As a personal assistant, you'll support me with personal care and daily tasks, with me being involved as much as possible. You'll help me with structure and communication and enable activities both at home and outside. You'll also accompany me to my daily activity center. Sometimes I need motivating activities where you as an assistant take the initiative to make my day interesting and developmental. That's why you need to be attentive, engaged, and willing to get to know me, even though I have limitations in my communication.
I'm deaf and have a visual impairment and am classified as deafblind, but I use my vision well. I communicate using sign language, TAKK, and pictures. Experience with TAKK or sign language is a plus, but what matters most is that you're attentive, engaged, and willing to get to know me.
I have 24-hour assistance with some awake nights and some on-call duty. There's partial dual assistance during all awake hours, except at the daily activity center where you're my medical assistant and support me with my tasks and communication with others during the day. This means you need to have good collaboration skills and, together with me and the other assistants, contribute to building a strong team.
The Position
We're currently looking for two positions - a temporary contract and a position that starts as hourly work and can then transition to a permanent position.
You'll start as an hourly employee with shadowing from other assistants and my parents. As we get to know each other, there's a possibility that the position could lead to a permanent employment of approximately 75 percent. Working hours are scheduled for daytime, evenings, nights (awake nights with some on-call duty), and weekends. We have a rotating schedule that you'll follow after your shadowing period, or alternatively, you work as an hourly employee. The schedule is planned together with you, my supervisors, and the assistance company.
I'm looking for someone who's flexible regarding work hours. It's a big advantage if you can also fill in during absences due to illness.
Preferred start date is immediate or by agreement.
Your workplace is where I am - at the daily activity center, in my apartment in Lund, or at various activities. The connections to the apartment are good, both from Malmö and within Lund.
I'm looking for assistants who are:
Responsible and confident in themselves
Attentive and take initiative
Active and enjoy being physically active
Comfortable working close to another person and with all kinds of work tasks
Good at collaborating and working in a group, but also independent when needed
The work also includes tasks such as cooking, cleaning, and helping me keep my apartment organized together with me.
Education or experience working with children, adults, or people with multiple disabilities is a plus, but personal suitability and rapport are what matter most.
You must be a non-smoker.
