Sydassistans is now seeking an assistant who can work on parental leave coverage. Our client is a 35-year-old man with autism, developmental disability, and epilepsy. He lives independently in a house in Vollsjö. We are looking for engaged and pedagogically skilled assistants who will serve as support for him in his daily life. It is important that you as an applicant are a driven and motivating person who can plan and implement leisure activities. Physical activity and music are very important for his well-being, and you need to genuinely enjoy these activities in order to assist him with them. You should be a skilled swimmer as swimming at public pools is among the leisure activities. Some weekdays are spent at day services where you as an assistant will provide support. Furthermore, he needs support with personal hygiene, establishing and following daily routines, including all normally occurring tasks in his home.
The client's verbal ability is limited, and as an assistant you will be important support in his communication with others. Therefore, it is a requirement that you speak Swedish fluently.
It is a requirement that you as an assistant to this client have experience working with people with autism. Additional merits include experience with TEACCH, visual teaching methods, and low-affective interaction. As an assistant, you should motivate the client to have a stimulating daily life and support him in structuring his day.
As a personal assistant in this position, you need to be flexible, responsive, empathetic, and calm. It is also important that you are positive, stable, and physically active. Your workplace is where the client is located, which could be at day services or at an outing destination. Work shifts are distributed between day, evening, and awake night shifts.
It is also a requirement that you have a driver's license (Category B) as the client has his own car, and that you intend to work for an extended period for continuity.
