About the Swedish Prison and Probation Service The Swedish Prison and Probation Service is growing – we are building new facilities, renovating, and expanding, and we are now recruiting additional staff. We are the agency responsible for correctional facilities, probation services, remand prisons, and inmate transportation. Position Description The Learning Center is a national organization where the Adult Education Section provides education for clients of the Swedish Prison and Probation Service. Each correctional facility in the country and certain remand prisons have one or more learning centers where teachers provide instruction at basic and upper secondary levels, equivalent to municipal adult education, as well as Swedish language education for immigrants. Adult education is nationally coordinated and organized so that studies function regardless of which facility a client is assigned to and even if they are transferred during their studies. Job Responsibilities Clients with educational needs can apply and be assigned to Adult Education. Teaching is individualized and takes place at Åby Correctional Facility. You will support students and teachers, both practically and pedagogically, in your role as a pedagogical instructor. The teaching instructor may be located locally or at a distance at another facility. This means that in your role you will have continuous contact and collaborate with teachers and colleagues throughout the country. Children and young people in remand custody who are enrolled in a primary or secondary school in the community receive help establishing contact with the relevant school to continue their studies – you are the link between the student and the school. Qualifications In your role as a pedagogical instructor, you are a skilled educator with the will and ability to motivate, inspire, and guide students to achieve their goals. You are clear and engaged in your work and have a strong ability to create structure and systematic approaches. The work is conducted both independently and in close collaboration with colleagues, which is why strong collaboration and initiative skills are important qualities, as is the ability to work independently. You are also aware of and understand how background, culture, and group affiliation influence you and others. We are seeking someone who has: - Upper secondary school diploma. Please attach your diploma in your application. - Experience working in educational activities in upper secondary school and/or adult education - Ability to express yourself well orally and in writing in Swedish - Good computer skills and experience working with digital support systems It is also advantageous to have: - Pedagogical education with a focus on schooling Terms Flexible working hours apply.
