The Chief Physician Role
At the Department of Surgery in Eksjö, we offer comprehensive diagnostic and interventional endoscopic services where ERCP is a key component. We have expertise in stenting, APC, peroral cholangioscopy (Spyglass), and all regional diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic ultrasound procedures are performed in Eksjö. Upper gastrointestinal surgery in Eksjö is primarily benign with a focus on biliary, hiatus, and metabolic surgery. Palliative malignant surgery is performed in consultation with the Thoracic Surgery team in Linköping.

Since 2017, the Department of Surgery is a region-wide clinic with operations at three locations: Eksjö, Jönköping, and Värnamo. The department director has overall responsibility for the whole operation, with delegated local responsibility at each location. All three sites have emergency departments with 24/7 acute surgical care including operating rooms and intensive care. The surgical operations at Höglandssjukhuset in Eksjö include a complete emergency mission as well as sections for upper and lower gastrointestinal surgery, endocrine surgery, hernia repair, and abdominal wall surgery. Through strategic efforts and dedicated staff, the region consistently ranks among the best county councils and regions in the country.

Your Profile
You are a licensed physician with specialist competence in upper gastrointestinal surgery. ERCP experience is desirable but not required. You have a professional approach, are flexible, and adapt your conduct to the situation. You work well with others. We value engaged, responsible individuals with excellent interpersonal skills. Personal suitability will be given significant weight.
