Join the largest transformation of the Office of Public Guardian in decades The Public Guardian Board is the municipal authority that oversees guardians, administrators, and authorized representatives. On July 1, 2026, we received a significantly expanded mandate. Decisions previously made by district courts, including decisions regarding guardianship arrangements, now rest with us. We are expanding our team and seeking an administrator who wants to help build our new way of working. What the Public Guardian does Our mission is to ensure that people who, due to illness or similar circumstances, cannot protect their own interests are not disadvantaged economically or legally. We review the accounts of authorized representatives, recruit and train guardians and administrators, and make decisions in administrative matters. The activities and assignments of authorized representatives are regulated by the Parental Code. About the unit The Office of Public Guardian has eleven staff members. The unit is advanced in digitalizing our work, and because our entire archive is digitalized, you have case documents right in front of you instead of having to order them. We are also working to have more annual accounts submitted digitally, so that review focuses on assessment rather than paperwork. You will notice the difference in your daily work, and you will have the opportunity to influence the next steps. The unit is small enough that you will know everyone and know who to ask, but large enough that you are never alone with a difficult assessment. We discuss complex cases together, and we consider it a strength to say when you are uncertain. The tone is unpretentious and collegial. We have good cohesion and take shared responsibility even during periods of high workload. Your responsibilities You are responsible for your own cases and are in regular contact with principals, relatives, authorized representatives, authorities, and the court. Your work includes – handling and making decisions according to the Parental Code and the Administrative Procedure Act – investigating applications and reports concerning guardians, administrators, and authorized representatives – recruiting, training, and providing ongoing support to guardians and administrators in their assignments – reviewing authorized representatives' annual accounts and statements and making decisions regarding compensation – preparing applications, statements, and documents for the district court and participating in court hearings – participating in the unit's development and project work, including the continued digitalization of case handling The role is broader than the title administrator might suggest. Legal assessment is the core of the administrator role, but part of daily work also consists of recruiting, training, and supporting authorized representatives, as well as reviewing finances. It is this combination that makes the work varied, and those who thrive best with us find all three aspects interesting. Who are you? You are thorough, persistent, and well-organized, and you can manage many cases in parallel without compromising quality. You are confident in making decisions that affect individuals, and you can explain a decision in a way that the affected person understands it. Since you also train and support authorized representatives, you need to be able to explain rules in a way that is understandable to people without legal backgrounds. You have equal interest in figures and people. You are curious about new technology and see digital tools as something that frees up time for matters that require your judgment. We place great importance on personal suitability. Requirements: – university degree of at least 180 credits with a focus on law, social work, economics, or other education or experience that the employer deems equivalent – very strong ability to express yourself in speech and writing in Swedish – strong ability to assess authorized representatives' financial documents, that is, to identify discrepancies and ensure that the principal's interests are protected – good computer skills Meritorious: – experience as a Public Guardian administrator – experience in other administrative authority work in personal matters – experience in legal application in administrative work – experience reviewing financial documents – experience with estates and inheritance division – experience in court case handling or participation in district court proceedings What we offer you – introduction with a personal mentor during the first months and access to expert colleagues for ongoing case-related questions – opportunity to work remotely up to two days per week by agreement with your manager, with room for individual arrangements – generous wellness allowance and the option to exchange holiday pay supplements for extra days off – a wide range of internal training and competency development initiatives – walking distance from Södertälje city center, 40 minutes from Stockholm Central Station, and 10 minutes by bus/commuter train from Södertälje Syd Read more about our benefits at https://www.sodertalje.se/formaner Welcome to us! Other information We are recruiting a legal administrator to the unit at the same time. If you are interested in both positions, you are welcome to apply for them separately. Selection and interviews may take place on a rolling basis during the application period. Södertälje Municipality uses competency-based recruitment methods to counteract discrimination and promote diversity in the workplace. We have many positions where we conduct background checks. A police record extract (criminal and suspicion records) from the Police Authority may therefore need to be provided by candidates before a decision on employment is made. Employment with us may involve classification at a security level. A security clearance with background check according to the Security Protection Act (2018:585) may therefore be conducted before a decision on employment is made. For some of our work assignments in security-classified positions, Swedish citizenship is required.
