About the Workplace The Historical Museum at Lund University houses Sweden's second-largest collection of artifacts from the Stone Age, Bronze Age, and Iron Age. The museum also manages a coin cabinet, medieval church art, ethnographic artifacts, and antique and anatomical collections. The museum has acquisition responsibility for the majority of archaeological finds excavated in Skåne. For fall 2026, we are seeking a technician, preferably with an artistic background, to work on the design and installation of our new exhibition about Lund Cathedral's 1000-year history. Duties and Responsibilities The exhibition opens in summer 2027, and as a museum technician you will be part of a team with a project manager, antiquarians, and a conservator. Your main duties will consist of setting up display cases and mounting artifacts, as well as potentially fine carpentry and creation of props in various materials. Most of your work will be performed in the Cathedral Museum's premises at Krafts torg in central Lund. You will also collaborate with external craftspeople in electrical work, construction, metalwork, and painting. Qualifications We are looking for someone with solid experience working with exhibitions, scenography, props, or other assignments that can be considered equivalent. You can realize detailed assemblies in various materials, and we would like to see you contribute constructive suggestions and practical solutions in line with the exhibition's overall design. Much of the practical work will be performed independently, but because you work in a team, it is important that you have good collaboration skills, are communicative, and have a flexible approach. Great importance will be placed on personal suitability. You must have practical craft training and/or artistic training, or alternatively extensive experience deemed equivalent to the above. You have documented experience working with object mounting in an exhibition context. We would also appreciate experience working with props. It is very important that you have good design sensitivity and are skilled in craftsmanship and artistic execution.
