Job Responsibilities With us you will have varied and practical work where you combine technical expertise with problem-solving in an environment filled with advanced medical technology. As a biomedical engineer, you will work with service, troubleshooting, repair, calibration, installation, and maintenance of medical equipment and systems. You will work practically and technically with the equipment in close collaboration with healthcare staff to ensure that equipment functions optimally in patient-care situations. Participate and act as a technical requirements setter in procurement processes, and plan, install, and commission new operating and surgical equipment, support our clinics in lifecycle management of their medical equipment – from needs analysis and investment to service, upgrades, and decommissioning. The work also includes administrative tasks, such as documentation, follow-up, and registration of completed actions in our systems. Our operations are certified according to ISO 13485, which means we work in a structured and quality-assured manner according to international standards for medical technology. We are careful to document all efforts and service actions to ensure high patient safety and traceability in everything we do. Focus within technical areas depends on your background. Your work will primarily be based at Västmanlands Hospital Västerås, but may also include work at other hospitals and healthcare centers in the county. We are looking for someone who enjoys having tools in hand, working with screws, testing, and solving problems, and who is energized by working practically with technology that makes a real difference in healthcare. You must also have the ability to install, configure, and maintain system environments connected to our medical equipment. At the same time, you need to be well-organized and administratively skilled, with the ability to carefully document, plan, and follow up on your work in our quality-assured systems. About the Workplace Medical Technology (MT) is part of Region Västmanland and consists of 20 employees. We are responsible for service and support of medical equipment and medical information systems at hospitals and healthcare centers in the county. We also welcome applicants with experience from related technical roles, such as automation engineer, production technician, startup technician, service technician, aircraft technician, or similar. If you have relevant professional experience, it will be assessed individually – your practical skills and technical understanding may make you fully qualified even if you do not have a traditional engineering degree. It is meriting if you have experience with biomedical work or have knowledge within electronics, networks, computer technology, or control systems. You need to have good knowledge of Swedish and technical English, and be able to carefully document service efforts.
