About the Role Do you enjoy diving into the finest details of materials engineering? Would you like to work at the research forefront with materials used in nuclear power? We are now seeking a materials engineer for the Materials and Analysis group (NMQM), which is part of the Structural Integrity and Fuel Service unit at Forsmarks Kraftgrupp. About the Job The Materials and Analysis group is responsible for managing and developing expertise in the field of materials engineering. We are part of the maintenance organization at Forsmark, and our primary responsibility is to maintain the function and material status of the facilities. The Materials and Analysis group's area of responsibility includes, among other things, defect descriptions, determination of damage causes, and assessment of safety margins for continued operation with damage. The properties of materials and how they are affected by radiation and various operating environments are crucial for both today's and tomorrow's nuclear power. With us, you will have the opportunity to build highly sought-after specialist expertise and work closely with materials engineering questions that are of great importance for the long-term and safe operation of the facilities. Your Tasks Work in our laboratory with sample preparation, microscopy, metallography, and fractography for evaluation of material damage and determination of damage causes. Practical analyses of composition, material properties, evaluation, and reporting. Support function to the rest of the organization on material-related issues. Theoretical evaluation of strength and material selection for spare parts and other components manufactured using both traditional and new methods. Review of technical documentation from, for example, the procurement department, quality department, or design department. Materials engineering support in the procurement process through analysis and assessment of documentation. Actively participate in national and international cooperation with other materials engineering departments and organizations, both within Vattenfall and externally. The nuclear power industry is characterized by being a learning organization where people learn from each other, and therefore we participate in various materials engineering forums. You contribute to the work with spare parts for the facility. This could include assessing whether a component has the right material properties, reviewing supplier documentation, or evaluating parts that have been manufactured using new methods. Conduct customized internal training sessions for various colleagues at Forsmark. In your work, you will receive support and guidance from experienced specialists while gradually developing your own expertise. The work is carried out, among other things, in our well-equipped materials engineering laboratory, where established analysis methods are combined with the development of new knowledge. Requirements We are looking for someone who: Holds a Master's degree in Materials Engineering and has several years of experience Holds a Bachelor's degree in Materials Engineering and has several years of experience Has good knowledge of Swedish and English, both spoken and written Holds a valid class B driver's license. Business travel, including international travel, occurs. It is an advantage if you have: Experience from laboratory work (sample preparation, microscopy (LOM, SEM), metallography, fractography, chemical analysis (XRF and OES), etc.) Good knowledge of reactor and turbine systems, reactor vessel and internal components. As a person, you are structured, take responsibility for your tasks, and share our great interest in materials engineering and strength engineering. You enjoy solving complex problems that sometimes need to be broken down into smaller parts and working together with the rest of the team. You like solving problems independently but also have an outward-facing side and want to collaborate with others.
