Do you enjoy practical and varied work where the results are visible in people's daily lives? We're looking for an equipment operator who, together with colleagues, keeps streets, pedestrian paths, and bicycle lanes in Skellefteå passable and well-maintained year-round. Here you'll get a varied job where tasks follow the seasons and you take responsibility for both your work and the machine you operate.
YOUR ROLE
As an equipment operator, you work maintaining and managing streets, pedestrian paths, and bicycle lanes in Skellefteå city center. Work tasks vary throughout the year and may include sanding, plowing, sweeping, and sand removal.
During the winter season, weather and road conditions largely dictate the work. In cases of snowfall and icy conditions, workload can periodically be very high and you may need to work on short notice.
During the snow-free season, you work on tasks such as repairing plow damage, digging and restoring after water leaks, and performing other maintenance work.
You're also responsible for operating and maintaining the machine safely and carefully, with consideration for both wear and costs. Sometimes the job also involves work outside the machine.
You'll be part of the transport unit, which consists of approximately 40 employees. In daily work, you collaborate closely with colleagues in the streets and parks division, often in small work teams or in pairs. You may also operate other vehicles within the operation.
YOUR COMPETENCE AND EXPERIENCE

You express yourself well in Swedish, both verbally and in writing, so you can communicate clearly with colleagues, receive work instructions, and document your work. You also need to be able to use digital tools in your daily work, for example to report time and follow driving orders.
To be a candidate for the job, you need to have a forklift truck driving license for construction work and a B driving license for manual transmission.
It's a merit if you have experience with similar work, such as sanding, plowing, sweeping, sand removal, or construction work. If you also have a forklift truck professional certificate for construction work, BE or CE driving license, valid YKB, digital driver card, or training in Work on roads, we consider that a plus.
YOUR NEW WORKPLACE
Transport and Service is part of the Civil Infrastructure Department. We're responsible for transportation, workshops, and central storage and work together to ensure the municipality's operations run smoothly. Here you'll get varied work alongside experienced and helpful colleagues.
Work hours are fundamentally 07:00–16:00 with flex options. On-call duty with evening and weekend work may occur. We offer generous vacation terms and good opportunities for recovery.
