Job Description
Margretelund and Gudhemsgården are now seeking a music teacher who wants to be part of developing music education with us.
Young people come to us who find themselves in difficult and challenging life situations. Many have negative experiences from school and low confidence in their own abilities. As a teacher with us, you work with these students and get a unique opportunity to awaken their desire to learn and make them proud of themselves. Teaching takes place in small groups, which gives you plenty of time for each student. You always work from individual needs and build trusting and professional relationships that make young people feel secure at school.
Teaching is at both upper secondary and lower secondary levels, and most young people are between 16 and 20 years old. School activities within SiS follow the same regulations as the rest of the school system. All young people staying at the youth home shall receive the education they are entitled to and need. We work closely with young people and have a positive spirit in both work and relationships. Teachers both teach and have mentor responsibility for students.
We are now seeking a music teacher through upper secondary level. Work tasks include teaching and mentoring students. In addition, documentation, development work, and collaboration with other professionals both internally and externally.
Qualifications
We are seeking a colleague with experience teaching music at lower and/or upper secondary level. You have good collaboration skills, initiative, a flexible approach, and a positive view of students. You have a solution-focused work approach, participate in school development work, and have high social competence. You need to be drawn to the opportunity to teach and build trusting pedagogical relationships in small teaching groups and in one-on-one instruction. To manage work with our young people, it is important that you can identify and meet the student's needs with high realistic expectations as well as motivate and guide the student toward their goals. It is also important to create a safe learning environment for students with special needs within the context of the smaller teaching group.
A plus is documented special education work, knowledge of various diagnoses, and experience working with young people in need of special support and institutional care.
As a person, you are confident, stable, and calm, even in stressful situations. You always take responsibility for your work tasks by planning, organizing, and prioritizing work efficiently to achieve set goals. We would like to see that you are unpretentious, flexible, can set and maintain boundaries in a respectful way, and have confidence that all students can find a path to education and work.
A permanent position requires teaching certification. We place great emphasis on personal suitability.
At SiS, we care about good collegial relationships. This means that as a colleague you take responsibility for your work, contribute to development, and participate in good collaboration. Read more at https://www.stat-inst.se/jobba-hos-oss/medarbetarskap-och-ledarskap/.
