Manillaskolan in Stockholm offers bilingual education in a sign language environment for students from preschool through grade 10. Our students receive instruction in both Swedish Sign Language and written Swedish. 1 position(s). JOB RESPONSIBILITIES As a speech-language pathologist at Manillaskolan, you work in a sign language and visually accessible learning environment alongside multiple professions. The school's students have Swedish Sign Language as their first language, often in combination with Swedish and/or other languages. In your role, you work with language and communication development from perspectives including deafness, hearing loss, multilingualism, and multimodal communication. Your main job duties include: • Work in health promotion, prevention, and intervention to support student development toward learning goals • Monitor and promote student language development through language and knowledge development methods • Participate in screenings of reading, writing, and language development • Conduct assessments and provide guidance and training to staff in language and communication • Work closely with the student welfare team, especially in collaboration with the school's special education specialist • Contribute to school development in language, accessibility, and learning environments • Provide advice and guidance to educators regarding adjustments in instruction and communication • Collaborate with guardians and external partners as needed • Participate in the school's overall development work You are part of the school's student welfare team, led by the principal and consisting of a school nurse, school psychologist, school counselor, speech-language pathologist, school physician, and special education specialist. Travel may occur as part of the position. You also participate in a national network of speech-language pathologists within special education. There we work systematically with quality development and professional development, both within your respective profession and across professions. QUALIFICATIONS You are a licensed speech-language pathologist and should have: • Experience with speech-language pathology work in schools with children of various ages • Experience with language assessments • Good knowledge of and ability to communicate independently in Swedish Sign Language • Good knowledge of the Swedish language in speech and writing • Good knowledge of neurodevelopmental disabilities • Good knowledge of multilingualism • Experience with documenting and testing students for language assessment It is meritorious if you have experience with: • Work with deaf and hard of hearing children and students • AAC (augmentative and alternative communication) • Assistive technology • Cross-professional collaboration and operations development • Close collaboration with educators • Guidance and training We are looking for someone who is: • Communicative and clear • Collaboration-oriented • Flexible and solution-focused • Attentive to both the student's and the environment's needs • Inclusive and thrives in cross-professional settings We place great emphasis on personal suitability. Employment type: Permanent position. Duration: Permanent, start: At the beginning of spring term 2027 or by agreement, and the position is 50%. Currently placed at Manillaskolan. A 6-month probationary period applies. An extract from the criminal record register must be presented before employment.
