Speech-Language Pathologist at Habilitation Center Söderstaden Children's Unit Habilitation Center Söderstaden is a unit within Habilitation & Health, an operation within Region Stockholm with specialized expertise in functional impairments. The unit specializes in intellectual disabilities, motor impairments, and autism spectrum disorders. We create conditions for patients to function optimally in their daily lives. We work in interdisciplinary teams consisting of occupational therapists, physical therapists, social workers, speech-language pathologists, psychologists, and special education teachers. We meet with patients both individually and in groups. Patients reside in the districts of Farsta, Skarpnäck, Enskede-Årsta-Vantör and in the municipalities of Nacka and Värmdö. We work to develop abilities and strategies so that patients and their networks can manage functional impairments in everyday life. Approximately 35 employees work at Habilitation Center Söderstaden, and we are located in fresh and airy facilities near commuter trains, buses, and subway stations. Job Responsibilities: As a speech-language pathologist with us, you will work with children and young people ages 0-17 and their relatives and networks. Your patients have motor impairments and/or intellectual disabilities and sometimes autism. Your duties include assessment, evaluation, and treatment of communication, speech and language difficulties, as well as eating, drinking, and swallowing problems. The work also includes trialing and prescribing communication aids as well as training and follow-up of these devices. The role also involves leading groups and delivering lectures based on your professional expertise. As part of the work, consultation and knowledge transfer to staff in the individual's immediate environment occurs. Our patients often have complex needs requiring collaboration, not only within the team but with healthcare partners, municipal services, and other authorities. The responsibilities are varied and require flexibility. About You: We are looking for someone who is a licensed speech-language pathologist and can work both independently and in collaboration with others. It is an advantage if you have previous experience working with patients with motor impairments and/or intellectual disabilities. Experience with communication, speech and language difficulties as well as eating and swallowing difficulties is also desirable. Competence in both low and high-technology alternative communication is beneficial. As a person, you are proactive, development-oriented, and motivated by finding solutions with the patient's needs in focus. You are confident and secure in yourself. For patient-facing work within Stockholm County Healthcare Area: - A background check is conducted prior to employment decision according to SLSO's guidelines for background checks in employment. - Employees who will have patient contact must undergo a new employee health examination, according to current directives, conducted through occupational health services before employment. - In addition to Swedish professional license, good knowledge of Swedish corresponding to level C1 according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) is required.
