Our work aims to make everyday life easier and create conditions for participation in society. We offer support, advice, and treatment to children, adolescents, and adults with disabilities in the areas of intellectual disabilities, autism spectrum disorders, physical disabilities, acquired brain injuries, and visual impairments. We also provide support and consultation to family members and loved ones. The services we provide complement the support given by other societal institutions. You will work with assessment and treatment related to communication and eating and swallowing problems. This is a role for someone seeking independent and varied work where you can develop through a patient-centered approach with an interprofessional approach as the foundation. A significant part of your work involves providing guidance and training to families, networks, and staff groups. This includes continuous cooperation with, for example, preschools/schools and various LSS activities. You will also be present in the patient's everyday environment through home visits. The work also includes documentation and prescription of assistive devices. We value interprofessional collaboration, which we consider a prerequisite for continuing to develop as an operation focused on the patient. In your role as a speech-language pathologist, you will work closely with other professionals at the workplace such as physiotherapists, occupational therapists, social workers, special educators, psychologists, and dietitians. Services are provided both individually and in groups, and we see the combined professional expertise around the patient as a foundation for offering patients the best possible treatment. To help you feel secure in your role, we provide a good introduction program with access to a team mentor at the workplace. You will also have a professional mentor within your profession and good opportunities for professional development and observation at other units within the operation. Within Habiliteringscentrum Västmanland, you have the opportunity to attend profession meetings twice per term where you can network with other speech-language pathologists. Qualifications We are looking for someone who is a licensed speech-language pathologist or is newly graduated from the speech-language pathology program and waiting for your license. If you also have training in Alternative and Augmentative Communication (AAC) or training in AKKtiv (training directed at guardians), we consider that a major advantage. It is an asset if you have previous experience working with people with disabilities. Our work is guided by documents that are often in Swedish, and you therefore need to have good knowledge of the Swedish language, both spoken and written. The position requires a B driver's license.
