We are now hiring an afterschool teacher for Kvarnbergsskolan. Kvarnbergsskolan has approximately 300 students from preschool class through grade 6. The school is located at the top of Kvarnberget. The newly renovated and expanded Kvarnbergsskolan was inaugurated in fall 2020 and features excellent learning environments and multiple spaces that provide great opportunities for varied outdoor activities. The school also collaborates with Idrottsskolan. The school has four mixed-age afterschool programs. The afterschool programs Älven, Solen, and Skogen accept students from preschool class through grade 2. The afterschool program Viken accepts students from grades 3 through 6.
This is a limited-term position at 50% until the end of the year. The position primarily involves work at the afterschool program in the afternoons, but also includes recess supervision.
Duties
As an afterschool teacher, you will be part of a work team consisting of classroom teachers and afterschool teachers who together plan, implement, and develop the program. Through close collaboration, you will help create continuity between school time and afterschool time, with a focus on student development, learning, and well-being.
Together with your colleagues, you will plan and deliver pedagogical, stimulating, and meaningful instruction that draws on students' curiosity, interests, and creativity. The afterschool program's mission is to complement school instruction by offering students a safe and developmental environment where they can develop their learning, social competence, responsibility, and ability to collaborate with others.
Instruction takes place both indoors and outdoors and is based on play, creative activities, movement, and student participation. You will help create a program that encourages exploration, community, and active learning throughout the day.
Work as an afterschool teacher is creative, varied, and developmental. It requires flexibility, initiative, and a solution-focused approach. At the same time, it offers great opportunities to influence and contribute to student development both academically and socially.
Qualifications
Licensed teacher with specialization in afterschool education.
We are looking for someone who is a role model for children and has great confidence in their abilities. As a person, we see that you have personal maturity, can take initiative, are relationship-building, and enjoy working with children and students. You communicate and collaborate easily with both students, colleagues, and guardians.
The position will be filled pending required decisions.
