Description
Are you studying law and do you have strong commitment to legal certainty and good governance? We are now seeking a law student for a part-time position as a case handler at Länsstyrelsen's Legal Secretariat. In your role as case handler, you will have the opportunity to apply and develop your legal skills by contributing to the Legal Secretariat's work, primarily in case management and administration.
The Legal Secretariat works with cross-agency legal governance, internal legal support and advice to other units, and conducts training. The unit reviews appealed municipal decisions under the Planning and Building Act and the Environmental Code, reviews appeals of shoreline protection exemptions, and appoints marriage celebrants, public officials, and notary publics. The unit also reviews permits for road events, decides on traffic regulations, handles cases regarding service of documents and depositing of funds, among others. Additionally, the unit coordinates Länsstyrelsen's role as regional election authority and contributes to the agency's work on emergency preparedness and civil defense. The Legal Secretariat also provides advice and support to other units within Länsstyrelsen on administrative law, confidentiality, and data protection.
Work Tasks
In your role as case handler with us, you will primarily contribute to the unit's work administering and handling administrative cases within various subject areas. The work may involve contact with the public, parties, municipalities, and other authorities. You will work closely with other staff members at the Legal Secretariat.
Qualifications
We are seeking a law student who has
completed at least 4 semesters of law studies (which upon completion grants 270 higher education credits),
the ability to assess information in order to make correct, well-balanced, and legally sound judgments,
strong ability to express yourself in speech and writing in Swedish,
good collaboration skills, high integrity, and personal maturity.
It is meriting if you have
experience with administration or case handling at a public agency,
experience working with issues within one or more of Länsstyrelsen's legal areas or within general administrative law.

Terms and Conditions
The employment is a fixed-term position for the period October 1, 2026 to December 31, 2026 with possibility for extension. You are expected to be able to work approximately 8–20 hours per week during normal office hours on weekdays. Working hours can be adjusted according to your studies.
